Role Description – Financial Controller Alinea Land Corporation is seeking a full-time, on-site Financial Controller based in Burlington, ON. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a hardworking, team-oriented environment and understands how to balance professionalism with the realities of a long-standing, relationship-driven business culture. The Financial Controller will oversee full-cycle accounting and reporting for all corporate and property-related financial activity across a growing portfolio of developments and assets. This individual will play a key role in supporting ownership and senior leadership with accurate reporting, financial insight, operational discipline, and strategic planning. This position is for a hands-on Controller who will be responsible for all aspects of the accounting for the organization. Success in this role requires someone who is detail-oriented, resilient under pressure, highly accountable, and capable of leading with both firmness and respect. The ideal candidate understands how to work within an evolving environment, can navigate traditional workplace dynamics professionally, and is committed to building strong internal relationships across all levels of the organization. Key Responsibilities · Lead full-cycle accounting and monthly financial reporting · Monitor and report on AR/AP, cash position, income, and expenses · Complete annual CAM reconciliations and draft annual operating budgets · Perform variance analysis at both the asset and development budget levels · Support 5-year financial planning and long-term forecasting initiatives · Manage HST filings across active entities · Lead year-end processes and support external audits · Analyze job costing to support the development and operations teams · Identify opportunities for operational efficiencies, cost savings, and revenue growth · Lead, mentor, and support the accounting and financial analyst team · Establish and maintain strong internal financial controls · Ensure compliance with property tax and financial reporting requirements · Work collaboratively with ownership, operations, and development teams · Adapt to evolving responsibilities as the organization continues to grow Qualifications · Minimum 2+ years of experience in commercial real estate, property management, land development, or a related industry · Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis · Proficient in Microsoft Excel; experience with Yardi (Voyager or Breeze) is considered a strong asset · Strong understanding of accounting principles and internal controls · Excellent organizational, analytical, and time-management skills · Ability to manage deadlines, shifting priorities, and a variety of communication and working styles professionally · Strong communication skills with a calm, solutions-focused approach · Self-starter with a strong work ethic and long-term mindset · Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field · CPA designation (or in progress) is considered an asset, but not required What We Value We value people who: · Show up consistently and take ownership of their work · Understand the importance of loyalty, trust, and accountability · Can work through challenges professionally and respectfully · Are adaptable, resourceful, and team-oriented · Take pride in supporting the long-term success of the organization · Bring a practical, hardworking approach to problem solving
