Job descriptionTitle: Finance + Procurement Controller Location : Montreal, Quebec Target Start Date : ASAP Type: (C, CTH, D) Direct Hire Pay Rate / Salary (Ranges OK) : $100-120K CAD Job Description : Reporting to the Program Director, the Finance & Procurement Controller is responsible for overseeing financial controls, accounting processes, and procurement oversight to ensure accuracy, compliance, and cost efficiency. The role supports budgeting, financial reporting, and purchasing activities while ensuring that practices align with organizational policies and financial objectives. Key Responsibilities ▪ Manage cash flow and working capital. ▪ Maintain strong internal controls and financial policies. ▪ Oversee general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and reconciliations. ▪ Ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial data. ▪ Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. ▪ Reviewing and processing vendor invoices with an accurate booking of QST/GST. ▪ Prepare and present statements, such as balance sheets, income and cash flow. ▪ Perform monthly, quarterly and annual financial closing activities. ▪ Supervise month-end and year-end closing processes. ▪ Reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and studying account information. ▪ Coordinate external audits and liaise with auditors. ▪ Monitor variances and provide financial analysis. ▪ Assist leadership with financial planning and cost management. ▪ Identify financial risks and recommend mitigation strategies. ▪ Ensure that the organization complies with all Canadian and US financial regulations, including tax laws, accounting standards and reporting requirements. ▪ Track procurement spending and ensure alignment with budgets. ▪ Support vendor selection processes including quotations and contract reviews. ▪ Maintain vendor records and procurement documentation. ▪ Ensure proper documentation and audit trails for financial and purchasing activities. ▪ Support improvements in financial and procurement systems and workflows Knowledge and Experience ▪ 5+ years of progressive accounting/finance and procurement experience. ▪ Experience in critical operational environments. ▪ Experience in the financial industry. ▪ Ability to excel in a highly regulated and fast-paced environment. ▪ Fluency in both French and English (written and spoken) is required, as this role involves regular interaction with partners. and stakeholders in both languages. ▪ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. ▪ Experience in presenting to Boards and executive leadership. ▪ Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. ▪ Solid understanding of accounting and procurement principles, practices and procedures. ▪ Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word). ▪ Experience with multi-entity or multi-currency environments ▪ Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. ▪ Attention to detail and accuracy in financial data analysis and reporting. ▪ Strong knowledge of accounting software such as QuickBooks. ▪ Excellent organizational and time management skills.
