Founded in 1995, YES Employment + Entrepreneurship is a non-profit community-based organization dedicated to enriching the community by providing English-language support services to help Quebecers find employment and start and grow businesses. FUNDRAISING AND RESEARCH ASSISTANT (SUMMER INTERNSHIP - 8 WEEKS) YES is seeking a talented individual who thrives on engaging with the public, possesses problem-solving and computer skills, and embodies a hardworking, self-starting attitude coupled with a pleasant personality. Position Summary The Fundraising & Research Assistant will support the administrative and development functions of YES Employment + Entrepreneurship by researching funding opportunities, cataloguing key information, strengthening internal fundraising processes, and assisting with the preparation of grant and partnership documents that help sustain programs serving Quebec’s English-speaking Official Language Minority Communities (OLMCs). Position Responsibilities will include: - Conducting prospect research on potential funders and funding streams relevant to employment, entrepreneurship, and artists, including foundations, corporations, government programs, and strategic partners, to support the English-speaking communities of Quebec. - Compiling prospect research findings into a database of prospect lists; updating and merging past lists. - Researching and synthesizing data related to employment and entrepreneurship (e.g., gaps in services for specific geographic regions or target audiences, comparable programming and initiatives, etc.) and maintaining an inventory of key research materials. - Collaborating with the fundraising team to identify program areas requiring new funding, clarify objectives, and align upcoming grant applications with organizational priorities. - Supporting the development of fundraising materials, such as letters of intent, cases for support, and preliminary grant content and research for the fundraising team’s review. - Drafting documents and briefs that outline opportunities for strategic partnership or program development in alignment with funder priorities and community needs. - Assisting in the creation of documents and materials related to donor stewardship and relationship-building. - Assisting with administrative tasks (e.g., data entry and maintaining accurate records in YES’s CRM). - Learning new digital processes and fundraising best practices to improve fundraising activities. - Providing general administrative or reception support, including answering inquiries and directing clients to appropriate job search, entrepreneurship, or artist support services, as needed. - Provide support in the YES Centre to clients accessing job search, entrepreneurship and artist support services by advising them of the services available and the community and directing them to the appropriate services. Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications - Between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment. - Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act [S.C. 2001, c. 27 - Legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations - Candidates with backgrounds in Fundraising/Development, Communications, the Arts (e.g.: History, Philosophy, Political Science, Art History), Management, or a related field - Experience in administrative tasks, research, grant writing, fundraising, and non-profit organizations will be considered a significant asset - Digitally savvy - Experience using Office365 (especially Microsoft Word and Excel), databases, and SharePoint platforms is a bonus - Strong written and communication skills - Highly organized - Strategic and creative thinking skills - A keen interest in supporting YES mission and the community through development and fundraising - Motivated with strong follow through and self-direction on assignments - Respects and adheres to timelines and deadlines - Flexible – able to shift gears quickly. - You see attention-to-detail as a way of life and take pride in your work - Able to work alone but is a strong contributor in team environments - Bilingual French and English - As an organization that provides services in English this position requires excellent English writing and communication skills. Résumé du poste L’assistant(e ) de collecte de fonds et de recherche soutiendra les fonctions administratives et de développement de YES Emploi + Entrepreneuriat en recherchant les opportunités de financement, en répertoriant les informations clés, renforcer les processus internes de collecte de fonds et aider à la préparation de documents de subventions et de partenariats qui contribuent à soutenir les programmes desservant les communautés minoritaires anglophones (CMOL) du Québec. Les responsabilités du poste incluront : - Mener des recherches prospectives sur les financeurs potentiels et les sources de financement pertinentes pour l’emploi, l’entrepreneuriat et les artistes, y compris les fondations, les entreprises, les programmes gouvernementaux et les partenaires stratégiques, afin de soutenir les communautés anglophones du Québec. - Compiler les résultats de la recherche prospective dans une base de données de listes de prospects ; - mettre à jour et fusionner les listes précédentes. - Recherche et synthèse de données liées à l’emploi et à l’entrepreneuriat (par exemple, lacunes dans les services pour des régions géographiques spécifiques ou des publics cibles, programmes et initiatives comparables, etc.) et la tenue d’un inventaire des principaux supports de recherche. - Collaboration avec l’équipe de collecte de fonds pour identifier les domaines de programme nécessitant de nouveaux financements, clarifier les objectifs et aligner les futures demandes de subventions sur les priorités organisationnelles. - Soutenir le développement de supports de collecte de fonds, tels que les lettres d’intention, les demandes de soutien, ainsi que le contenu préliminaire des subventions et les recherches pour l’examen de l’équipe de collecte de fonds. - Rédiger des documents et des mémoires qui décrivent les opportunités de partenariat stratégique ou de développement de programmes en accord avec les priorités des financeurs et les besoins de la communauté. - Assistance à la création de documents et de documents relatifs à la gestion responsable des donateurs et à la construction de relations. - Assistance aux tâches administratives (par exemple, saisie de données et maintien de registres précis dans la base de données de YES).
