Kickstart your career with Scotiabank’s Commercial Aspire Program! This is your opportunity to gain real-world experience, build your network, and explore what it’s like to work in Canadian Commercial Banking—all while contributing meaningfully to our teams. Aspire is designed for ambitious undergraduates like yourself who are curious, collaborative, and eager to learn. There’s a place for every type of student at Scotiabank, and all that we ask for is that you have passion and strong Attitude and Ownership of Opportunity (AOO).

Scotiabank’s Commercial Banking professionals are committed to delivering advice. You’ll be a trusted advisor offering a full suite of customized lending, deposit, cash management, and trade finance solutions to mid and large-sized businesses. Team players with a client-centric approach and a strong emphasis on results will thrive in our flexible, growth-oriented environment, and our one-of-a-kind people-first culture. We are also committed to providing advancement opportunities for those individuals who have the ability, aspiration, and engagement to contribute at higher levels.

The National Accounts team delivers specialized financial advice and solutions to a diverse range of large-scale clients across Canada, including major corporations, public sector entities, and industry leaders. We work collaboratively with clients to understand their unique business strategies, operational frameworks, and long-term goals, offering customized financing and banking services tailored to their needs throughout all stages of growth—from initial expansion and capital investment to ongoing operations and strategic acquisitions. This role provides exposure to multifaceted financial transactions, advanced credit analysis, and the opportunity to develop in-depth expertise within one of our primary business segments.

Is this role right for you?

With Aspire, you’ll gain early exposure to Commercial Banking by working on meaningful projects and learning directly from experienced professionals. You’ll have opportunities to:

  • Support client relationship teams with research, financial analysis, and administrative tasks.
  • Conduct company and industry analysis to inform credit and business decisions.
  • Build your analytical and communication skills in a structured, collaborative environment.
  • Learn how the Bank balances client needs with risk and operational considerations.
  • Contribute to delivering timely, high-quality support on key projects.
  • Partner across teams to help drive business outcomes and process improvements.
  • Champion a client-focused culture to build and deepen relationships with clients and internal partners, leveraging the Bank’s broader relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  • Ensure that the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture are considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

Who we’re looking for:
You thrive in a structured environment with clear guidance and deadlines, and you bring a positive, flexible, and professional attitude.

Key capabilities:

  • You are client-centric and passionate about enhancing the client experience
  • You are collaborative and work effectively with others
  • You are organized and able to manage multiple priorities with strong attention to detail
  • You are comfortable operating in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • You are analytical and use data to inform decisions and recommendations
  • You are adept at identifying problems and developing effective, strategic solutions

Key requirements:

  • You are enrolled in an undergraduate degree in Business, Commerce, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
  • You have strong Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • You have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • You have good presentation skills and consistently demonstrate professionalism
  • You have a natural curiosity and eagerness to learn about Commercial Banking
