Job descriptionAbout the Role: The Head of Portfolio Management will lead the firm’s investment program and drive portfolio performance across client mandates. This is a senior leadership role responsible for shaping investment strategy, overseeing portfolio construction, and ensuring disciplined execution across all investment activities. This role also includes acting as a discretionary advisor to retail clients, ensuring portfolios are managed in alignment with client objectives, regulatory requirements, and fiduciary standards. The ideal candidate is an experienced investment leader with a strong track record in portfolio management and client engagement—someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and brings both strategic vision and hands-on expertise. Key Responsibilities: - Define and execute investment strategies and asset allocation frameworks that drive competitive performance and support client acquisition and retention. - Continuously evolve the investment platform to identify differentiated opportunities that enhance the firm’s value proposition and market positioning. - Deliver forward-looking market insights and portfolio perspectives that support business development, client engagement, and revenue growth. - Oversee portfolio construction and performance with a focus on delivering consistent, compelling outcomes that reinforce client trust and attract new mandates. - Exercise full discretionary authority over client portfolios, asset allocation, and investment decisions in alignment with client mandates, regulatory requirements, and fiduciary standards, supported by robust documentation and governance. - Proactively identify risks and opportunities to protect client assets while enhancing long-term portfolio value and client satisfaction. - Lead high-conviction research and investment selection that differentiates the firm’s offering in competitive sales situations. - Translate complex investment insights into clear, client-focused narratives that support sales conversations and decision-making. - Ensure operational excellence to deliver a seamless and high-quality client experience across all portfolios. - Serve as a senior ambassador of the firm, actively driving business development, client acquisition, and relationship expansion efforts. - Partner closely with sales and relationship teams to articulate investment strategy, performance, and outlook in a way that drives client confidence and wins new business. - Contribute to thought leadership and market commentary that enhances brand visibility, supports marketing initiatives, and generates inbound client interest. - Maintain strong oversight of risk management and compliance to reinforce credibility and trust with clients and prospects. - Ensure all portfolios align with client mandates while identifying opportunities to deepen relationships through additional solutions and services. - Support budgeting, reporting, and strategic initiatives with a focus on scaling the investment platform and contributing to overall firm growth. - Ensure strict adherence to all internal compliance policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, maintaining the highest standards of governance and fiduciary responsibility. What You Bring: - Proven leadership experience managing investment teams and driving performance. - Deep expertise in portfolio management, asset allocation, and risk management. - Strong understanding of capital markets and the ability to translate insights into strategy. - Demonstrated success in investment research and decision-making. - Excellent communication and presentation skills, with confidence in client-facing settings. - Strong client service orientation and relationship management skills. - Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-performance environment. - High attention to detail with sound judgment and decision-making capabilities. - Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for continuous improvement. - Strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks and a demonstrated commitment to compliance, risk controls, and best practices in portfolio management. - Experience building and operating within Investment Fund Manager (IFM) structures, including developing fund governance frameworks, operational processes, and regulatory compliance programs. Qualifications: - Minimum of 15 years of relevant investment expertise demonstrated by success in managing, multi-asset class portfolios, including alternative investments for high-net-worth clients as a CIO or Portfolio Manager. - CFA designation is required - The ability to meet the regulatory requirements to be registered as a Portfolio Manager with the appropriate securities commission. - Experience building, structuring, and operating within an Investment Fund Manager (IFM) environment, including oversight of fund structures, is considered a strong asset. - Bachelor’s degree required, masters preferred (Business, Economics, Accounting, Finance) Predictive Index Assessments As part of our hiring process, candidates complete two short assessments from Predictive Index: - A Behavioural Assessment (5–10 minutes, untimed) to understand your work and communication style. - A Cognitive Assessment (12-minute timed) to measure learning and problem-solving abilities.
