Responsibilities
Lead the strategic direction of Calgary Airports’ Security Program by developing and executing security strategies, annual plans, and integrated work programs while driving innovation, continuous improvement, and risk mitigation.
Oversee airport-wide security operations and compliance by ensuring all activities meet legislative and regulatory requirements and establishing effective policies, procedures, and standards.
Drive risk management and emergency preparedness by managing the security program within the organizational risk framework and leading emergency readiness, response, and post-event improvements.
Provide senior leadership and stakeholder expertise by advising executives and the Board on security matters and representing the organization with regulatory and external partners.
Manage financial and operational performance by developing and overseeing departmental budgets, identifying efficiencies, and establishing and monitoring KPIs.
Build and lead a high-performing team by recruiting, developing, and coaching employees while fostering an inclusive, values-driven culture.
Strengthen partnerships and collaboration by coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to deliver integrated security outcomes and advance the Calgary Airports’ security posture.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Security Management, Criminal Justice, Law, Aviation, Emergency Management, or a related field is required. Extensive relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
8–10 years of experience in aviation or critical infrastructure security, with demonstrated accountability for strategic program delivery.
3–5 years of leadership experience managing teams of professionals and delivering operational results.
Demonstrated experience developing and implementing security policies, programs, and regulatory compliance frameworks.
Proven ability to manage security risks and lead responses in high-pressure or emergency situations.
Experience managing budgets and delivering results within financial and operational constraints.
As this position is considered safety-sensitive, candidates must successfully complete pre-employment drug and alcohol testing as part of the hiring process.
This role includes driving as part of its duties; therefore, candidates will be required to provide a valid Class 5 driver’s license and a current driver’s abstract as part of the hiring process.
