Job description
Keystone Environmental is a rapidly growing environmental consulting firm based in Burnaby, BC. Recognized as one of Canada’s Top 100 Small & Medium Employers for six consecutive years and certified as a Great Place to Work (2024, 2025, and 2026), we are known for valuing practical expertise, technical integrity, and people who take pride in doing the work right—on site. We are seeking an experienced Environmental Engineer or Scientist who wants to continue working in a field-based role within contaminated sites consulting. This position is ideal for professionals who enjoy being on site, leading investigations, applying sound technical judgment in real time, and mentoring junior staff—without being pulled away into a desk-only role. The Role As a senior field practitioner within our Contaminated Sites Field Services group, you will act as the field lead on complex and challenging investigations, serving as Keystone’s technical representative on site. You will: - Lead and oversee Stage 1 & 2 PSIs, DSIs, remedial action planning, and remediation programs - Exercise independent, defensible decision-making in the field - Provide hands-on technical guidance and mentor junior field staff - Represent Keystone with professionalism and credibility during site work and client interactions - Contribute directly to Keystone’s Field Services Training Program, helping shape the next generation of field professionals This role is designed for individuals who value technical excellence, field autonomy, and practical problem-solving, and who want to continue building their career in the field, not away from it. What You Bring You are a field-experienced environmental professional with: - Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills - Proven experience with field data collection, interpretation, and reporting - In-depth knowledge of BC environmental legislation, contaminated sites regulations, codes, and standards - A strong commitment to quality, safety, and technical rigor - Solid understanding of contaminant fate and transport - Confidence in making sound, defensible decisions during field activities Qualifications - Degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related discipline - Minimum 3+ years of hands-on contaminated sites field experience (more experience welcomed) - Registered or eligible for registration as P.Eng., P.Geo., or P.Ag. - Valid Class 5 driver’s license and ability to travel to field sites throughout BC Why Keystone - Field-centric roles that respect and reward technical expertise - Competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits - A supportive, collaborative culture that values mentorship and growth - Opportunities to stay technically sharp while contributing to meaningful projects across BC To Apply: Please submit your resume and cover letter, referencing “Contaminated Sites Field Services” in the subject line. We thank all applicants for their interest; however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
