Key Responsibilities: Project & Tooling Management - Program Ownership: Lead projects through all stages: concept, feasibility, design, construction, try-out, launch, and logistics. - Tool Tuning & Matching: Lead tool tuning activities based on part measurement reports as well as tryout of the mock-up samples confirmation on the gage; manage matching experiences at the OEM level to meet strict dimensional and aesthetic requirements. - Stakeholder Liaison: Interface with internal cross-functional teams and external resources (tooling suppliers, vendors) to maintain strong customer relationships and meet milestones. - Documentation: Log in of all math data / GD&T drawings / OEM work orders / functionality reviews / tooling designs with checklist / gage designs with gage review approval form, etc., into Markdom EDT (Engineering Document Tracking site). Leading the development of DFMEA, DVP&R, and GD&T reviews for design responsible projects. - Technical Reviews on RFQs/SORs: review the RFQ / SOR packages and prepare Tech-Review presentation. Present the presentation during the Tech Review meeting with the customers. CAE Analysis & Technical Optimization - Design for Manufacturing (DFM): Utilize practical knowledge of Moldflow to provide design direction, assisting customers in modifying designs to optimize for injection molding feasibility. Proficiency in using Siemens NX to create / modify part designs is mandatory. Proficiency in operating CATIA is an advantage. - Advanced Simulation: Perform and oversee CAE analysis (FEA, CFD, Moldflow) to test 3D model characteristics and provide comprehensive reports. - Supplier Review: Review FEA/CAE reports from suppliers for accuracy and completeness before final customer submission. - Cost Efficiency: Evaluate different CAE software for the most cost-effective deployment within the engineering department. Quality & Compliance - Standards: Ensure all work complies with Markdom procedures, safety, and quality standards (ISO 14001 & IATF 16949). - Core Tools: Execute tasks related to APQP, PPAP, and FMEA. - Continuous Improvement: Identify and log "lessons learned" to identify strengths and weaknesses in alternative solutions for future programs. Requirements: Experience & Education - Minimum 7+ years of automotive engineering experience specifically within the injection molding sector including functional black plastic, exterior trim parts, insert molding (appliques, fastener inserts or metal stamping components). - Experience with 2-shot injection molding (rotary/ core back/cube) are added advantages. - Engineering Degree from Canadian University or certification from Canadian Technical Institute. Technical Expertise - Solid understanding of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) for injection molding - Minimum 5+ years tooling design experience (Tooling Engineer / tool designer background). - Experience in tool tuning based on measurement reports and tryout feedback, including participation in matching events or on-site customer reviews, - Hands-on experiences of mocking up samples for tryouts are added advantages. System & Tools - Proficiency in Siemens NX (mandatory) and CATIA. - Strong knowledge of GD&T, DFMEA, DVP&R, and DOE. - Practical experience with Moldflow and FEA software.
