Job descriptionLegal Assistant - Employment & Labor - 4 days a week in office - Toronto office Seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to work in our Toronto Office. This position will appeal to candidates who enjoy a busy and challenging position in an office with a great culture. You will be focusing on: - Prepare, format, revise, proofread, serve and file court documents in accordance with the Ontario Rules of Civil Procedure. - Prepare and submit expense reports, docket entries, and accounts. - Manage and coordinate client meetings, conference calls, hearings, arbitrations, etc. - Maintain lawyers’ calendar, including coordinating travel arrangements and tracking deadlines. - Provide general administrative assistance, such as responding to client inquiries, receiving incoming mail and maintaining client file lists. - Draft and revise correspondence for review. - Maintain electronic and physical files, including opening and closing files and keeping files up to date. - Perform related duties as assigned and assist others as required. What you bring to the role: - Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Legal Assistant position in Employment and Labour Law. - Diploma from a Legal Assistant, Law Clerk, or Paralegal program would be considered an asset. - Must be able to prioritize, meet deadlines, and adapt to frequently and rapidly changing priorities. - Strong organizational skills and the ability to take initiative and work independently. - Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; - Proficiency with Windows, Microsoft 365, and document management systems. - Excellent attention to detail and proofreading skills. - Experience with styles and document formatting. - Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with clients. - Ability to take initiative when appropriate.
