Position Overview We are seeking a General Manager to lead and run our Canadian operations, with a focus on aligning sales, engineering, and production into a disciplined, high-performing operating system. This role is responsible for controlling work intake, enforcing execution discipline, and ensuring the business operates in a structured, predictable, and profitable manner. The successful candidate will act as the central decision-maker across day-to-day operations, ensuring the right work is taken on and delivered effectively. This is a hands-on leadership role for a builder-operator who can impose structure, drive accountability, and lead execution in a complex, project-based manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities - Own day-to-day business performance, including delivery, throughput, and profitability - Control and align work intake with production capacity to ensure achievable commitments - Drive execution of complex, high-reliability projects from quote through delivery with strong governance and accountability - Oversee and enforce project management frameworks, including scope, schedule, cost, risk, and quality management - Ensure all work is delivered on time and within budget, with clear ownership of schedule adherence and cost performance - Establish and monitor financial controls, including budgeting, forecasting, cost tracking, and variance analysis in coordination with the CFO - Implement and maintain performance metrics and reporting systems to track delivery, financial performance, resource utilization, and quality outcomes - Ensure robust quality management systems are maintained and continuously improved in alignment with industry standards (e.g., ISO, nuclear QA programs, aerospace quality standards) - Oversee shop floor operations, including workforce planning, labour utilization, and productivity optimization - Ensure equipment, tooling, and infrastructure support safe, efficient, and high-quality production - Enforce alignment between sales, engineering, and production teams, resolving conflicts and setting priorities - Establish and lead a structured operating rhythm, including regular production and project reviews focused on decisions and performance - Drive accountability across all functional leaders (sales, engineering, production) for delivery and results - Identify and eliminate bottlenecks to improve flow of work across the business - Develop and implement operational strategies aligned with sustainable growth and execution capability - Build and maintain relationships with key clients, partners, and stakeholders Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Nuclear, Aerospace, or related), or a degree in related field; MBA considered an asset - 10+ years of leadership experience in manufacturing, operations, or project-based environments - Demonstrated success managing complex, custom, or project-driven operations - Strong background in program or project management methodologies - Proven experience with financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control - Experience overseeing shop floor operations or technical production environments - Working knowledge of quality management systems and standards (e.g., ISO 9001, CSA N299, AS9100 or equivalent) - Experience in custom manufacturing, automation, defence, nuclear, or similar industries preferred - Proven track record of delivering work on time, within scope, and on budget - Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or PMP certification considered an asset Key Competencies - Strong operational leadership and decision-making capability - Program and project execution discipline - Financial oversight and cost control - Cross-functional leadership and alignment - Accountability and performance management - Systems thinking and process implementation - Ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, evolving environments - Confidence to make decisions and push back when required to protect business performance What This Role Is Not - This is not a purely technical engineering leadership role - This is not a sales leadership role - This is not a passive coordination position This role is responsible for running the business on a day-to-day basis and ensuring execution across all functions.
