Job descriptionThe Opportunity This role offers the opportunity to help shape how one of Canada’s most significant Indigenous-led restoration initiatives, delivering work at scale. You will be part of building a system that not only funds projects, but also enables larger, coordinated restoration programs that support ecological recovery, community capacity, and long-term outcomes across BRFN territory. The Role The Funding Program Manager will play a central role in how restoration is funded, structured, and advanced. This is not a typical program management role. It combines funding oversight, program design, and hands-on coordination to ensure both individual projects and larger-scale restoration initiatives are set up for success. The person in this role will: - Oversee the Society’s funding programs, including intake, evaluation, contracting, and reporting - Support the development of larger, coordinated restoration programs that build on existing project work - Help structure and manage partnership-based restoration initiatives involving industry, Indigenous organizations, and service providers - Ensure funded work is aligned with the Implementation Agreement, community priorities, and measurable outcomes This role requires someone who is equally comfortable working in detail (budgets, agreements, reporting) and at a higher level (program design, partnerships, and systems). Key Responsibilities · Lead and manage funding program processes, including application intake, evaluation, recommendations, and approvals · Ensure funding decisions align with the Implementation Agreement, Board direction, and restoration priorities · Support the development and expansion of multi-year restoration programs alongside project-based funding · Work with leadership and partners to structure restoration initiatives that can be delivered at scale · Support procurement, contracting, and oversight of funded projects and programs · Monitor project and program performance, including financial tracking, deliverables, and outcomes · Identify and address risks or challenges that may impact delivery · Contribute to the development of systems, tools, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) · Support implementation and use of the Society’s funding and reporting systems (Salesforce CRM) · Work collaboratively with BRFN staff, partners, and proponents to support successful program delivery · Provide regular updates to the CEO, CFO, and Strategic Advisors on program status, risks, and opportunities Qualifications We are seeking someone who brings: · Post-secondary degree or diploma in environmental management, natural resources, business, public administration, or a related field · 7+ years experience in program management, funding administration, project management, or a related role · Experience working with multi-stakeholder initiatives or complex programs · Strong understanding of ecological restoration, land-based work, or resource management is an asset · Experience working with Indigenous communities or organizations is strongly preferred · Experience with contracting, procurement, and financial oversight · Familiarity with CRM or funding management systems (e.g., Salesforce) is an asset Skills & Attributes · Strong organizational and systems thinking skills · Ability to manage both detailed operational work and higher-level program planning · Strong communication and relationship-building abilities · Problem-solving mindset, with the ability to step in and support delivery when challenges arise · Comfortable working in an evolving environment where processes are still being built · Respect for Indigenous governance, cultural values, and community priorities · Flexibility, humility, and a practical approach to getting work done Position Details Reports to: CEO Term: Full-time, permanent Start Date: As soon as practicable Salary: $150,000 – $180,000 (commensurate with experience) Benefits: Comprehensive health and dental benefits, hybrid work environment, flexible hours (balanced with team needs), employee development opportunities, and a purpose-driven work environment Location: Hybrid (some remote flexibility, but regular in-person presence required) How to Apply Please submit your resume and a brief cover letter to hr@restorationsociety.ca.
