With a staff of 14,000, the TCDSB is a dynamic school board and is seeking a permanent position for a Project Supervisor , Architectural Renewal within the Capital Development, Asset Management & Renewal department.

Our department is responsible for the stewardship of millions of dollars of construction that supports student learning and promotes student success. Our goal is to provide safe, sustainable, and supportive environments for learning. We enhance learning and teaching environments for both students and staff at the TCDSB by upgrading the quality of all building systems and outdoor site conditions before they reach the end of their life cycles. Through the improvement of building systems and school sites, the Asset Management and Renewal Department play a pivotal role in elevating the quality of educational spaces at Toronto Catholic District School Board's elementary and secondary schools.

Several team members are licensed professionals with the OAA and PEO, dedicated to advancing and improving public institutional architecture through the design of TCDSB schools. The department partners with some of Canada's leading architects, leveraging their diverse expertise to continually enhance our built environments. Many of our staff are licensed members of Professional Engineers Ontario and qualified Project Managers who strive to use their professional knowledge and experience daily to successfully execute over a hundred projects annually. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Reporting to and under the direction of the Manager, Asset Management and Renewal and as the Board's representative/advocate for projects/programs, you are responsible for the timely delivery of multiple school facility electrical upgrade projects.

• Act as the Board representative on Asset Renewal projects; provide ongoing communication, coordinate and attend project management meetings with the users, consultants and authorities having jurisdiction, contractors and others that may be required to assist in the project delivery
• Perform administrative duties related to School Renewal Projects including: prepare reports and studies; assess, monitor and manage project schedules; utilize internal management programs for the tracking and monitoring of project budget and payments; respond to requests for information internally and externally
• Provide ongoing communications with school communities and administrators, senior staff, and other stakeholders
• Develop and prepare detailed work scopes for external consultants and prepare and participate in evaluating prequalification submissions
• Prepare, track and monitor project status including financial status and schedule
• Review and provide direction on the development of contract documentation
• Provide support in the development and updating of the TCDSB's school design and building component standards
• Other duties as assigned or required

REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum of (3) three -year college diploma in architectural, engineering, building technology, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Minimum of two (2) years of progressive experience in construction administration and/or project management in an architectural, engineering consulting or construction firm or institutional organization
• Membership in the appropriate professional association would be an asset
• Knowledge of relevant government regulation and codes including the Ontario Building Code and the Ontario Construction Act
• Excellent knowledge of construction contract administration procedures including tendering policies and procedures, change order management, invoicing and prompt payment, financial reporting and tracking
• Ability to work independently, self-directed and as part of a team
• Excellent written, verbal communication and organizational skills
• Strong analytical, negotiation and problem-solving skills
• Proficiency with a range of current software programs and applications including MS Office
• Experience in school or institutional design and construction would be an asset
• Availability to work outside core office hours, as required
• Knowledge of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, Occupational Health & Safety Act and CCDC2 contracts

PLEASE NOTE: This position requires travelling to TCDSB sites on a regular basis. The incumbent must have their own vehicle available to use and a valid Ontario driver's license (eligibility for mileage reimbursement).

Requires wearing of appropriate and current safety equipment (safety shoes, hard hat) for TCDSB construction sites. The position may require call-out beyond regular work day /week schedule due to emergencies, or necessity to participate in a rotating call-out schedule.
