Instructor, Health Programs (Health Care Aide) (Internal Posting)
LPN Salary Rate: $60,696 to $91,956 per year
RN Salary Rate: $63,972 to $98,268 per year
Location: Slave Lake
July 1, 2026 to Ongoing
Qualifications:
- Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse
- A valid registration with College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA), College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta (CPRNA), or College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA)
- Minimum one (1) year continuing care clinical experience in a health care facility
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Willingness to travel
- A clean vulnerable sector criminal record check prior to commencement
- A valid Class 5 driver’s license
- A combination of education, training, and experience may be considered
Nature and Scope of Work:
Reporting to the Chair, Practical Nurse and Health Care Aide, this position is responsible for instruction in lab, classroom, and workplace settings, assessing prior learning, tutoring, student recruitment and advising, record keeping, and administration.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Instruction, Teaching Strategies, and Learning Environment
- Provide individual and group instruction in classroom, laboratory, and workplace settings
- Become knowledgeable of Health Care Aide Program and program expectations
- Use a variety of teaching techniques and strategies, including educational technology if required, which are appropriate for adult learners
- Provide students with accurate and timely information regarding courses and program
- Ensure that students are familiar with the content of the student handbook
- Establish and maintain a classroom and laboratory environment conducive to learning
- Maintain an inventory of supplies and materials
- Provide access to educational resources
- Demonstrate a respect for individual differences
Student Support, Engagement, and Evaluation
- Build a mutually comfortable working relationship with students including advocating on behalf of students
- Meet/communicate with each student on a regular basis
- Encourage peer support activities
- Provide opportunities for student evaluation of instruction adjusting as needed in response to student feedback
- Monitor student attendance and progress identifying and assisting students experiencing difficulties
- Use probationary/performance contracts as required as well as making probation and termination recommendations
- Organize and facilitate student orientation to the College and Program
- Ensure exam security, co-ordinate exam schedule, and organize and supervise exams as required
- Co-ordinate administration of course, Program and College evaluation forms, withdrawals, and registrations
Liaison, Compliance, Promotion, and Professional Responsibilities
- Liaise with student sponsors/employers
- Assist in promoting College programs
- Projecting a positive image of the College
- Maintain and encourage good public relations
- Display a client service attitude
- Identify and participate in promotional activities
- Assist with the development of promotional materials and activities
- Identify and share promotional ideas
- Maintain confidentiality of information acting in accordance with privacy policies and regulations
- Adhere to College and program policies, procedures, and guidelines
- Participate in professional development, annually identify learning goals, and provide evidence of progress toward achieving goals
