We are looking for an experienced Test Automation Lead to own quality engineering across multiple releases in a fast-paced, Agile environment. The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on automation skills with Playwright, proven leadership experience, and a track record of building reliable QA processes from the ground up.
What you'll do - Own and drive test strategy, planning, and execution across multiple releases
- Define testing scope, approach, and quality metrics aligned to QA standards and governance
- Lead the design and implementation of test automation frameworks covering UI, API, and regression testing
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines
- Oversee functional, regression, integration, and UAT support testing
- Review test cases, automation scripts, and test artifacts for quality and completeness
- Manage defect triage, prioritization, root cause analysis, and closure
- Lead, mentor, and manage onshore and offshore QA teams
- Coordinate with Product Owners, Developers, Scrum Masters, and other Test Leads
- Provide regular status reports, dashboards, and test closure summaries
- Identify process gaps and drive continuous improvement initiatives
- Champion a shift-left, automation-first mindset across the team
What you bring - 10+ years of experience in software testing and quality engineering
- 3 to 5 years in a Test Lead or QA Lead role
- 3 to 5 years of web application testing experience
- Hands-on experience with Playwright (strongly preferred); Selenium or similar frameworks a plus
- Experience with API testing tools such as Postman or REST clients
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools including Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins
- Working knowledge of test management and defect tracking tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps
- Basic proficiency in JavaScript or TypeScript for Playwright scripting
- Database testing and SQL querying skills
- Solid understanding of Agile and Scrum methodologies
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
Nice to have - Experience leading distributed or offshore QA teams
- Exposure to multi-release or high-volume delivery environments
- Formal QA certifications such as ISTQB
Work setup - Location: Mississauga, ON
