We are currently looking for an Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team in Ottawa, ON.

What you will be doing:

• Participate in the detailed design of mechanical systems, facility planning, and equipment layout.
• Be responsible for the planning, development, and management of designs from the conceptual stage through fabrication and installation, including: Detailed design and analysisDeveloping relevant documentation (design briefs, engineering reports, procurement specifications, installation instructions and commissioning plans)Chairing design reviewsProviding technical support during procurement, manufacturing, installation, and commissioningOverseeing designers in the production of detailed drawingsTravelling internationally to vendor and client sites for design reviews, inspections, commissioning, and acceptance testing activities for up to 6 weeks at a timeParticipate in development and improvement of department processes and procedures
• Senior Engineer ResponsibilitiesAct as the lead mechanical engineer, typically on small and medium sized projectsMentor and supervise junior and intermediate teammates on a project and delegate manageable tasks to build capabilityReview and approve documents and drawings produced by mechanical engineering, after receiving department signing authority

Who are we looking for:

• Experience in mechanical engineering design, preferably in a field related to gas turbine design, development, or testing
• Typically 12+ years’ experience
• Experience designing for and familiarity with manufacturing processes and engine testing, are considered important assets
• Demonstrated experience in at least 3(three) of the following areas:Machine designWelded design and large-scale fabricationDesign of structures subjected to dynamic loadingFatigue life assessment of structuresDesign and analysis of thermally loaded structuresFinite Element Analysis (ANSYS preferred)Rotordynamic AnalysisHydraulic and Pneumatic systemsASME Section VIII and B31.3Installation supervision and on-site troubleshooting
• PEO membership or eligibility for PEO membership is required
• Candidates must be Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents to meet the requirements of the Controlled Goods Program and other applicable government security clearance regulations.

Education

• Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical, aerospace, or related engineering discipline

The range displayed on this job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all Canada locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
