Job Description

We’re looking for a talented individual to…

Support and strengthen health and safety across our Canadian programs by acting as the primary safety liaison between corporate safety, operations, and subcontracted partners. This 12‑month, mostly remote role focuses on evaluating safety responsibilities, especially where subcontractors and trade work are involved, and ensuring programs are compliant with provincial and federal OHS requirements.

Reporting to the Director, Safety & Fleet, you’ll take a hands‑on, program‑by‑program approach, starting with programs in Ontario and British Columbia to assess exposure, clarify responsibilities, and design practical, compliant safety plans that teams actually use. This role requires strong judgment, influence, and comfort working independently across multiple stakeholders. Occasional travel (approximately 3–4 trips per year) is expected.

You are a great fit if you can…

  • Serve as the primary health & safety point of contact for Canadian programs, with a strong focus on subcontracted and trade‑based work.

  • Assess safety risk, and responsibility related to contractors and subcontractors across multiple provinces.

  • Design and support implementation program‑specific safety plans aligned with provincial OHS requirements and operational realities.

  • Partner with Operations, Legal, and Safety & Fleet to identify exposure and recommend practical risk mitigation strategies.

  • Conduct site visits and program reviews to understand how work is performed and where safety gaps exist.

  • Support regulatory compliance, audits, and corrective actions across federal and provincial frameworks.

  • Influence leaders and field teams to adopt compliant safety practices without relying on rigid enforcement.

  • Translate safety risks and findings into clear, actionable improvements.

  • Travel periodically to operational sites and offices to support program rollout and oversight.

Exciting candidates will have…

  • 5+ years of progressive health & safety experience in Canada, ideally in environments involving construction, trades, subcontractors, or field operations.

  • Post‑secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety or a related field (or equivalent experience).

  • Hands‑on experience building, managing, or scaling safety programs or program‑specific safety plans.

  • Strong working knowledge of provincial OHS legislation, particularly Ontario and British Columbia.

  • Experience navigating contractor and subcontractor safety responsibilities and regulatory grey areas.

  • High level of independence, sound judgment, and strong time management skills.

  • Excellent communication and influence skills, with the ability to drive change without authority.

  • Comfort working remotely while remaining field‑oriented and operationally engaged.

  • Willingness to travel periodically and attend in‑office meetings when required.

  • CRSP or CRST designation is considered an asset.

  • Ability to speak French is a strong asset.
