Job Title: Mechanical Installer
Job Description
The Mechanical Installer will assemble and install a conveyor-based sorting system within a large distribution facility. You will work in small, coordinated teams to complete mechanical installation tasks safely and accurately, using a range of hand and power tools, reading basic blueprints, and working at heights when required.
Responsibilities
- Assemble and install mechanical components of a sorting and conveyor system according to project plans and basic blueprints.
- Work as part of a small team to complete installation tasks efficiently while maintaining a strong focus on safety.
- Use a variety of hand and power tools to perform assembly, fastening, and adjustment of mechanical components.
- Perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting materials and equipment weighing 50 pounds or more.
- Work at heights on platforms, scissor lifts, and other access equipment as required to complete the installation.
- Follow construction site safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment at all times.
- Operate or assist with forklifts and aerial work platforms (such as boom or scissor lifts) if qualified and required.
- Verify the accuracy and quality of installed components to ensure the system is aligned and functions as intended.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to identify and resolve installation issues promptly.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and handle tools and equipment responsibly, including personal tools brought to the site.
Essential Skills
- At least 2 years of general labor experience in a construction or industrial environment.
- Demonstrated mechanical inclination with experience in installation, welding, conveyors, iron work, or similar mechanical work.
- Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints to understand installation requirements.
- Proficient use of a variety of hand and power tools for mechanical assembly and installation.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds or more on a regular basis.
- Comfort working at heights on platforms, scissor lifts, or similar equipment.
- Ability to work safely and follow all construction site safety procedures.
- Comfort working on an active construction site with changing conditions and tasks.
- Strong teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate in small crews to complete tasks.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience assembling conveyors or similar mechanical systems.
- Experience in mechanical assembly, iron work, or related trades.
- Forklift experience is a strong asset.
- Experience operating aerial work platforms (boom or scissor lifts) is a strong asset.
- Ability to work extended hours, including up to 60 hours per week when required.
- Strong attention to detail and precision in mechanical installation work.

Work Environment
This role is based in a large, modern distribution facility that operates as an active construction site during the installation phase. The schedule typically runs from 06:30 to 16:30, Monday to Saturday, with the possibility of additional hours and changes as project needs evolve, and may include up to five 12-hour shifts per week. Work takes place both on the ground and at heights, including on elevated platforms and scissor lifts, and some team members will operate or work around forklifts and aerial work platforms. The environment is fast-paced and physically demanding, requiring frequent lifting, climbing, and movement around equipment and structures. You must wear appropriate personal protective equipment at all times and adhere strictly to safety procedures. Workers are expected to bring their own tools as specified on the provided tool list, and maintain them in good working condition throughout the project.
