Operations Controller

Job Description

The Maintenance Operations Controller oversees the technical dispatch of the fleet in full compliance with the Maintenance Control Manual and applicable airworthiness standards. Reporting to the shift manager, this role guides maintenance providers and flight crews, coordinates day-of-flight maintenance activities, and serves as the central point of contact for line maintenance operations on a 24/7 basis. The position requires strong technical expertise, sound judgment, and the ability to manage complex operational situations, including irregular operations and emergencies.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the technical dispatch of all company and customer aircraft in accordance with the Maintenance Control Manual and applicable standards of airworthiness.
  • Guide and direct internal maintenance teams, contracted maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) providers, and flight crews to ensure full compliance with aircraft maintenance requirements.
  • Coordinate day-of-flight maintenance activities at line stations, including planning and organizing required tasks to support on-time operations.
  • Provide technical assistance and troubleshooting instructions to support the rectification of aircraft defects and ensure safe, airworthy releases.
  • Act as the focal point for all line maintenance activities on a continuous, around-the-clock basis, including during irregular operations (IROPS) and emergency situations.
  • Communicate aircraft operational restrictions, limitations, and maintenance-related constraints to flight dispatch and systems operational control (SOC) in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Control and monitor all Minimum Equipment List (MEL) items affecting the fleet, ensuring proper documentation, tracking, and compliance with regulatory and internal requirements.
  • Continuously update the shift manager and maintenance controllers on the operational status of the fleet, including any significant technical issues or risks.
  • Maintain current knowledge of all technical and regulatory requirements relevant to the role, including training mandated by maintenance and aviation authorities.
  • Work effectively with internal and external customers to resolve technical and operational issues while maintaining a high level of service.
  • Exercise sound judgment and make appropriate decisions with minimal supervision, especially in time-critical or complex operational scenarios.
  • Use computer systems and applications to document actions, track maintenance events, and communicate with stakeholders in a clear and organized manner.

Essential Skills

  • Valid Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) license in category M2 or E, or equivalent qualification.
  • Type endorsement on at least one of the following aircraft: Boeing 767, Boeing 777, Boeing 787, Boeing 737 MAX, Airbus A220, Airbus A320, or Airbus A330.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision while exercising sound judgment and taking appropriate actions in dynamic operational environments.
  • Proficiency with computer applications including word processing, email, spreadsheets, and Windows-based systems.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly.

Why Work Here?

You will join a highly collaborative maintenance operations control team that values professionalism, clear communication, and mutual support. The role offers an ongoing contract with a highly competitive compensation structure and the possibility to transition to a permanent position if desired. You will work straight shifts on a 5-5-4 schedule, providing predictable hours and the opportunity to build a stable routine. The office environment is modern, clean, and aesthetically pleasing, creating a comfortable setting to focus on complex technical and operational tasks. This is an excellent opportunity to deepen your expertise in maintenance control while contributing directly to safe, reliable flight operations.

Work Environment

You will work in a maintenance operations control center within a clean, modern, and aesthetically pleasing office environment. The team consists of approximately 6–8 people working at maintenance operations control desks, fostering close collaboration and real-time communication. The position follows a 5-5-4 schedule on straight night shifts, typically from 18:00 to 16:20, supporting around-the-clock operations. You will use computer-based tools and standard office software to monitor fleet status, coordinate maintenance activities, and communicate with line stations, MROs, and operational control functions. The environment is structured, professional, and focused on safety and operational reliability, with an emphasis on clear communication and teamwork.
