Job description
About Draganfly Draganfly Inc. (the “Company”) has been a recognized technology leader within the commercial UAV space for over two decades. We helped establish the commercial market & adoption of multi-rotor helicopters for public safety, agriculture, aerial imaging, & more. As a leader who helped shape the industry, Draganfly’s focus is on the sale of drone products and services, contract engineering & custom integration product development, and health monitoring products and services.

About The Role We’re looking for an experienced and relationship‑driven Canadian Military & Federal Government Business Development Executive to help expand Draganfly’s presence within Canada’s military, federal government, and security‑sensitive sectors.

This role requires a strategic thinker with strong sales instincts, deep familiarity with government environments, and the credibility that comes with military or federal experience. You’ll be responsible for identifying opportunities, navigating procurement pathways, and building trust‑based relationships across the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF), federal agencies, and adjacent government organizations.

If you’re someone who thrives in complex environments, understands operational needs, and excels at building long‑term partnerships, you’ll feel right at home here.

This role requires the successful candidate to be based in and reside in the Ottawa area, given the proximity to key federal stakeholders and government institutions.

Key Responsibilities

Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the Canadian military, federal government, intelligence agencies, and related sectors.

Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, and key stakeholders.

Maintain a current understanding of military capability requirements and related technologies in the unmanned and autonomous systems market, ensuring alignment with operational needs and defence priorities.

Understand and respond to Government RFPs, RFIs, and procurement processes.

Provide account management across multiple branches of the Canadian Armed Forces.

Develop and execute strategic sales plans to meet revenue targets.

Conduct market research and competitive analysis to inform business development strategies.

Represent Draganfly at industry events, trade shows, and client demonstrations.

Travel regularly to meet clients, attend demos, and participate in conferences.

Collaborate with internal teams to support client onboarding and ongoing satisfaction.

Utilize investigative, analytical, and risk‑assessment skills to understand client needs and offer tailored solutions.

Maintain accurate records of activities and pipeline progress within CRM tools.

Who are you really?

You bring a strong network within the Canadian military and federal government community — and understand how trust and credibility open doors.

You’re an excellent communicator who thrives in high‑stakes, relationship‑driven environments.

You’re strategic, resilient, and comfortable navigating complex government processes.

You balance sales acumen with integrity, discretion, and a solutions‑oriented mindset.

You’re energized by autonomy and can manage relationships, pipelines, and priorities independently.

You’re naturally curious, analytical, and skilled at identifying opportunities others may overlook.

You bring a forward‑thinking approach and enjoy exploring creative solutions for clients.

Qualifications

Experience in Canadian military operations, or in equipment program management or defence procurement.

A proven leader, with strong, established connections within the Canadian Defence ecosystem.

Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently and with cross‑functional teams.

High level of professionalism, discretion, and integrity.

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Nice to have

Experience in business development, sales, or government/military relationship management would be a significant asset.

Operational knowledge of drones is an asset.

CRM systems experience is an asset.

Current or past security clearance is a significant advantage (ability to regain clearance is beneficial).

Compensation package

Competitive salary range: $120,000 – $150,000 with uncapped commission.

Equity / Stock Options: Participation in the company’s stock option plan, providing long‑term ownership and alignment with company growth.

Comprehensive medical and dental benefits, including a Health Spending Account (HSA).

Matching RRSP program to support long‑term financial planning.

Generous time‑off program, including vacation, wellness days, and the full week off between Christmas and New Year’s.

Professional development support, including assistance toward obtaining your FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate or equivalent training required for operational roles.

Why Join Us? At Draganfly Innovations, you’ll join a collaborative team that values innovation, curiosity, and continuous improvement. We’re in an exciting growth phase, scaling our technologies, product lines, and teams as we continue to shape the future of UAV innovation. Joining us now means becoming part of a company with deep roots in the industry - and bold ambitions for what comes next.

You’ll have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact, work on diverse and cutting‑edge projects, and grow your skills alongside passionate experts. We offer competitive compensation, strong benefits, and a supportive environment where your contributions truly matter. Here, you won’t just join a company- you’ll help build what comes next.

As part of our hiring process, all candidates must successfully complete reference checks and a criminal background check.
