Job descriptionThe role of the Product Development Designer/Engineer II is to provide prints, solid modeling and designs for production release. Engineering analysis and judgment will be required to execute aspects of some projects. The role provides input regarding technical and design aspects for improving quality, performance, cost, and solving application and manufacturing problems. The person must be adaptable to changes in assignments and priorities. Guidance from others is expected on larger tasks associated with the role. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)
Safe product designs and safe completion of tasks. Participate in the development of product specifications with minimal guidance. Develop new designs for projects with some guidance. Familiar with most products, product standards e.g. MSS, ASME, ANSI and ASTM. Analyze designs to ensure applicable industry standards are met. Review instruction manuals and product literature. Conduct design reviews and tolerance analyses. Assist with continuation improvement projects with other engineering departments. Safe and comfortable in assisting laboratory testing as needed. Analyze designs using engineering tools and techniques such as 3D Modeling and engineering calculations. Provide internal engineering and troubleshooting support. Prepare, approve, and submit Product Change Notices (PCN) and approved product changes. Assist manufacturing in the introduction of new products into production. Involved in prototype development and prototype testing. Contact vendors for technical data on purchased components. Assume responsibility for accuracy of new engineering documents produced. Assist any other area where design knowledge is needed. Assist/backup PD designers and engineers with drafting and design workloads. Provide internal engineering and troubleshooting support. Involved in training colleagues on PD procedures and tasks. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical engineering, and 2 years of related experience. Proficient use of 2D and 3D CAD drafting systems and computer processes. Working knowledge of fluid power systems, instrumentation, basic electronics. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Understanding of manufacturing processes. Working knowledge of DeZURIK product lines and business systems. Good understanding of DeZURIK standards. Working knowledge of industry standards. Good written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with others, inside and outside of the company. Good interpersonal skills to provide support to the PD group and must be capable of making decisions with guidance on larger tasks. Able to work independently on larger features. Prioritizes own workload in accordance with department goals and daily reports. Select proper hand/power tools for the application and use them safely. Familiar with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing. Estimate resources needed to achieve project goals with guidance. PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Physical demands are typical of an office position including extended periods of sitting, extensive use of a personal computer and telephone. Factory floor support is imperative. The physical requirements of the job are related to some testing in the engineering lab, field service activities that can be part of the job assignments or handling component parts in the plant during a quality inspection. WORKING CONDITIONS
Normal manufacturing and office environment. When working occasionally in some shop areas, personal protection equipment (PPE) will be recommended and/or required (safety shoes, safety glasses w/side shields, hearing protection, face shield, gloves, apron and boots). Stress may result from workload and meeting schedules. Must have the ability to support extended business hours to meet customer business needs. DISCLAIMER

DeZURIK offers a competitive base salary in the $66,018 to $82,522 CAD range, based on experience and qualifications. Bonus payments may be available based on individual roles and annual company performance.
