We are in search of an experienced and groundbreaking Digital Energy Leader (Associate Principal) from anywhere in Canada to join our Americas region team! This newly created, strategic role focuses on leading digital transformation and advisory services for power transmission and distribution networks across the US and Canada.
Your role includes developing and delivering digital solutions for energy clients, encouraging business development, and maintaining technical excellence in project delivery. You will collaborate closely with regional and global energy leaders, bringing to bear Arup’s digital advisory, software development, data, and geospatial teams. This position is tailored for expansion, with expectations for future team‑building as project workload and pipeline expand.
The opportunity
Monitor project timelines, budgets, and resources; provide oversight and guidance to staff.
Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to client satisfaction.
Identify and address potential issues or risks; ensure compliance with contractual obligations and quality standards.
Expand relationships with existing energy clients and open relationships with new clients.
Lead business development strategies to win new projects and diversify services.
Supervise proposal and bid preparation; talk contracts and terms.
Identify suitable partners for major pursuits.
Advise energy clients on digital/data strategy and implementation roadmap.
Develop digital service offerings relevant to the energy market.
Advise on digital means and methods to improve delivery of large‑scale capital development projects.
Establish and maintain quality assurance processes and standards.
Represent Arup as a leader with vision and innovator in the energy marketplace.
Assess expertise in current digital team for application to energy market needs.
Upskill digital staff to support digital consulting projects.
Identify staffing needs and participate in recruitment and hiring.
Support career development through mentoring, coaching, and participation in promotion and review processes.
Develop and iterate annual Digital Energy business plan focused on transmission and distribution.
Monitor project budgets and financial performance to achieve revenue targets and profit margins.
Implement financial controls and risk management practices.
Is this role right for you?
Bachelor’s degree required.
Minimum of 15 years’ professional experience in digital consulting, with industry recognition through awards, publications, and speaking engagements.
Extensive experience in advising and managing large‑scale digital consulting projects, especially in energy transmission and distribution.
Well‑networked in the energy market with utilities, developers, and contractors in the US and Canada.
Proven track record in business development, client relationship management, and technical project delivery.
Professional acknowledgement in the energy marketplace in the form of awards, speaking and press appearances is required.
Toronto Hiring Range – The good faith base salary hiring range for this job if performed in Toronto is $220,000 to $230,000 per year. This range is commensurate with experience, educational background, and skill level. Benefits are not included in the base salary. Hiring ranges for candidates performing work outside of Toronto will differ.
