Job descriptionDescription We are seeking a Data Platform Lead Engineer to support the design, build, and evolution of the enterprise data platform that underpins analytics, AI, and reporting across the organization. This role is responsible for technical leadership, architecture, and engineering standards to ensure the platform is secure, scalable, reliable, and governed.
Key Responsibilities
Design and implementation of the enterprise data platform, including ingestion, storage, processing, consumption layers and data products
Define and enforce engineering standards for data pipelines, platform reliability, security, and performance
Provide hands on technical leadership to data engineers and platform teams
Collaborate with architecture, governance, security, and business teams to align the platform with enterprise requirements
Ensure data quality, metadata, lineage, and access controls are embedded into the platform by design
Required Skills & Experience
Strong experience designing and building large scale data platforms (cloud or hybrid)
Deep expertise in data engineering, data modeling, and pipeline orchestration
Experience with modern data technologies (e.g., cloud data warehouses, lake/lakehouse, streaming, ELT/ETL)
Proven ability to lead technical design, make architecture decisions, and mentor senior engineers
Experience supporting analytics and AI/ML workloads on an enterprise data platform
Familiarity with data governance, privacy, and regulatory requirements
Experience with Azure-based or other major cloud data ecosystems
This is a hybrid position requiring the contractor to be on site at least 2 days per week at the Toronto office.
