About the Role:
Junior Copywriters are the emerging talents in Cossette Toronto's creative community. They bring energy, curiosity, and a sharp eye for ideas—jumping into briefs, learning the ropes, and building their craft under the wing of seasoned mentors. Hungry to grow and ready to contribute, they explore modern tools like AI, and start shaping ideas that flex across every channel. This role is all about showing potential, soaking up knowledge, learning from missteps and making your mark from day one.

Key Responsibilities:

• Copy Research: Research, fact-checking, and gathering information for various projects, considering nuances for different channels. Begin to experiment with modern writing tools, including generative AI, to brainstorm headlines, generate simple copy variations, or summarize research findings.
• Copy Execution: Draft short-form copy, headlines, and social media content under supervision, learning to tailor tone and length for specific channels.
• Brand Voice Application: Begin to understand and apply writing style to match different brand voices and target audiences across various platforms.
• Strategic Interpretation: Begin to interpret creative briefs and strategic direction to inform copy development, considering basic channel implications.
• Craftsmanship: Deliver copy that’s crisp, clean, and captivating. Apply a human touch to every line to ensure precision, depth, and emotional punch—including those generated by AI.
• Presentation Support: Assist in preparing written materials for internal and client presentations, demonstrating an understanding of how copy functions across channels.
• Organization & Accountability: Assist with organizing and maintaining creative files and assets for diverse channels. Take ownership / responsibility for the quality of creative files, decks and overall output.

Skills & Qualifications:

• 1 - 3 years of experience in an advertising agency, internship, or related creative field.
• A portfolio (student and/or professional) demonstrating raw talent, conceptual promise, and a passion for advertising, with an understanding of how ideas can translate across different channels.
• Strong writing and grammatical skills with a growing understanding of craft nuances.
• Eagerness to learn, strong work ethic, and a positive, collaborative attitude.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to take constructive feedback.
• Curiosity about brands, culture, and human behaviour, and how they interact across different media touchpoints.
• Openness to learning and experimenting with modern creative tools, including an introductory understanding of generative AI's role in multi-channel creative production.
