Position Title: Manager, Materials

Located in the Northern Manitoba region, the Pickering Nuclear Generating Station is a key asset of the North American energy network, and this position will support the Turbine Generator Refurbishment project.
What is the Opportunity?
The Materials Manager, reporting to the Project Director, will be responsible for the planning, tracking, receipt, recording, and issuance of critical materials and equipment on the Turbine Generator Refurbishment project at the Pickering Nuclear Generating Station. This role will require continuous communication with all project team members and will be responsible for identifying and implementing continuous improvements of material tracking and handling methods.
What You'll Do Here:
- Prepare, in collaboration with the Procurement Manager, the policies and strategies that will dictate project material management procedures.
- Prepare, in collaboration with the Construction Manager, the material management plans within the overall construction strategies and schedules.
- Establish, in collaboration with Procurement and Quality Managers, the materials control procedures.
- Participate as applicable in the establishment of the department budget and administer thereafter.
- Implement and supervise activities such as maintaining accurate and up‑to‑date status of materials and equipment for upcoming work, forecasting deliveries and addressing shortages, and providing regular updates to project management and construction teams.
- Ensure all material and equipment is properly handled, controlled, and maintained in accordance with project procedures, specifications, vendor requirements, and industry best practices.
- Coordinate all materials handling, ensuring the availability of sufficient manpower and material handling equipment.
- Ensure that sufficient qualified material control personnel are assigned to carry out the tasks defined in the Material Control Plan.
- Participate in external and internal audits, including resolving corrective actions resulting from audits.
- Expedite materials and services to meet project schedules.
- Oversee and manage logistics between warehouse and site locations.
- Develop and maintain a strong working relationship with quality teams and TSSA.
- Manage teams of material receivers and oversee material handling.
- Oversee warehousing and logistics.
- Other duties as assigned.
What You Bring to the Team:
- Technical (Engineering or Engineering Technology) education is an asset.
- 7+ years of engineering and/or construction project experience, with experience in materials management and logistics.
- Strong interpersonal skills in communicating with a large team.
- Strong skills in MS Excel.
- Experience with reviewing and aligning activities with project P6 schedules.
- Ability to identify construction materials and consumables.
- Knowledge of SharePoint and SAP applications is an asset.
- Experience with forecasting and meeting budgets is an asset.
- Knowledge of ASME Section III DIV I, N285, N286 codes and standards is an asset.
- Employment must meet mandated nuclear export control requirements for TGR.
- The background check process includes a full security check and clearance process as well as reference checks.
