We are seeking a hands-on, floor-driven leader who can successfully manage high-volume operations, motivate teams, and ensure production targets, quality standards, and client expectations are consistently exceeded. Position Overview The Shift Supervisor will be responsible for leading afternoon shift operations across a high-volume production facility running multiple client-driven production and co-pack lines. This individual will oversee daily production execution, staffing, efficiency, safety, quality, and operational performance while ensuring seamless coordination across departments. The ideal candidate will bring strong experience within co-packaging, food manufacturing, consumer packaged goods (CPG), or high-speed production environments and demonstrate the ability to manage complex operations involving 15–20 active production lines and large hourly teams. This role requires a highly organized and results-oriented leader who thrives in fast-paced manufacturing environments and possesses the leadership presence to drive accountability, productivity, and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise afternoon shift operations within a high-volume manufacturing and co-packaging environment
- Oversee production activities across 15–20 simultaneous production lines servicing multiple customer accounts and production schedules
- Manage, coach, mentor, and develop a workforce of approximately 60–70 production employees, line leads, and operators
- Drive daily operational performance related to safety, productivity, labour utilization, quality, downtime reduction, and schedule attainment
- Ensure all production targets and customer service expectations are achieved while maintaining strict quality and food safety standards
- Monitor line efficiencies, staffing allocation, production flow, material availability, and machine performance throughout the shift
- Conduct shift meetings, communicate production priorities, and ensure effective shift-to-shift handovers
- Partner closely with Maintenance, Quality Assurance, Planning, Shipping, and Warehouse teams to resolve operational issues and minimize downtime
- Ensure compliance with GMP, HACCP, Health & Safety, and company operating procedures
- Lead investigations and corrective actions related to quality concerns, safety incidents, production disruptions, and labour challenges
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on operational efficiencies, waste reduction, labour optimization, and process improvements
- Maintain accurate production reporting, KPI tracking, labour reporting, and shift documentation
- Support employee engagement, accountability, performance management, and progressive discipline where required
- Foster a positive, high-performance culture focused on teamwork, accountability, safety, and operational excellence
- Support onboarding, training, and cross-training initiatives to strengthen workforce flexibility and succession planning
Qualifications
- Minimum 5+ years of leadership experience within manufacturing, co-packaging, packaging, food production, or consumer goods environments
- Proven experience overseeing high-volume production operations with multiple active production lines simultaneously
- Strong co-pack experience managing multi-client production requirements and changing production priorities
- Experience leading large production teams of 60+ hourly employees in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated ability to drive productivity, labour efficiency, quality performance, and operational KPIs
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, production scheduling, line balancing, and continuous improvement methodologies
- Knowledge of GMP, HACCP, Health & Safety regulations, and quality systems
- Excellent leadership, communication, conflict resolution, and employee coaching abilities
- Ability to make effective operational decisions in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Experience working with ERP systems, production reporting systems, and Microsoft Office
- Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement exposure considered a strong asset
- Post-secondary education in Operations, Manufacturing, Engineering, or related discipline considered an asset
