Salary for the candidate will be determined taking into consideration a number of factors including: experience, skills, qualifications, anticipated contribution to role, internal equity, etc. The salary range presented above is based on a 35-hour workweek and would represent a majority of different candidate profiles. However, we encourage candidates who may fall outside of this range to apply as well.
About the role
Intact is seeking a Director, Legal Affairs (Investment, Financing & Public Disclosure) to play a pivotal role in its Corporate Legal Department. You will lead a team of lawyersand other legal professionals supporting Intact’s investment activities, financing initiatives, and public-company continuous disclosure.
Reporting to the Vice-President, Legal Affairs, you will be a trusted advisor and thought partner to business leaders - called upon not only for legal expertise but also for pragmatic, commercial insight to help deliver strategic outcomes.

Key Accountabilities
Provide strategic legal support to Intact Investment Management (Intact’s asset management arm) on its investment activities and transactions (acquisitions/dispositions, fund subscriptions, trading arrangements, etc.)
Oversee adviceon securities regulation and compliance impacting the activities of registrants, portfolio managers and reporting issuers; maintain a proactive regulatory watch and translate developments into practical guidance.
Provide lead legal support on financing and other treasury-related transactions and activities.
Own and oversee continuous public disclosure obligations (including ESG).
Identify and assess legal, strategic and reputational risk, distill the “so what” for Intact, and develop pragmatic solutions aligned with business priorities.
Leadership and business impact
Lead, inspire, mentor and develop a high-performing team of legal professionals, providing regular feedback, coaching, and clear priorities.
Ensure consistent standards of excellence in service, responsiveness, risk management and execution quality.
Build strong stakeholder relationships and influence decision-making through clear, business-focused advice.
Act as the project owner for select material initiatives, requiring strong project management (not only legal) to coordinate multi-disciplinary stakeholders and deliver results.
What you bring to the table
Bachelor of Laws / Juris Doctor and admission to the Bar of Québec, Ontario, or another Canadian province
A blend of legal and leadership experience, with likely 10+ years of relevant legal experience in increasingly senior roles, gained in a law firm and/or in-house environment.
Experience in investment management, corporate/securities law and public-company disclosure obligations.
Proven people leadership experience, including developing and engaging teams of legal professionals; ability to build a collaborative, high-accountability culture.
Strong judgement and the ability to analyze legal, strategic and business risk, communicate clear recommendations, and drive execution.
Excellent drafting and negotiation skills, with comfort operating in high-stakes and time-sensitive situations.
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and coordinate multi-disciplinary projects in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated alignment with Intact’s Leadership Success Factors:
Bilingual (French/English) required, given regular interaction with colleagues across Canada and internationally.
