Your opportunity:

Working with a dynamic team and under the general direction of the Director, Student Engagement and Campus Life, you will be dedicated to the enrichment of the co-curricular life of the campus, focused on supporting and developing student leaders and campus groups.

As the Coordinator, Student Campus Groups, your rolewill be developing, coordinating, and evaluating the programming and services that support student leaders within recognized campus groups and organizations, ensuring an emphasis on student development and equity. This will involve creating and delivering workshops to enhance leadership development, campus groups recognition, risk assessment of club events on-campus, applying conflict resolution skills to the club complaints process, and coaching and supporting clubs on the safe and successful execution of their events as their university liaison.

Your work will involve partnerships and communication with campus stakeholders. These partnerships will require you to work closely with the other positions within the Office of Student Experience and Wellbeing, as well as Facilities Management, Retail and Conference Services, the Office of the Registrar, the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Office, as well as tri-campus colleagues.


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and implementing components of curricular and/or co-curricular programs and activities
  • Implementing risk management plans and processes
  • Advising student groups on the development of clubs and societies
  • Advising student groups on the application of relevant policies and procedures
  • Advising students on the interpretation of rules and regulations regarding the use of space and organizing events on campus
  • Ensuring others adhere to established risk management protocols during University events
  • Coordinating the recruitment process and training of work-study staff
  • Training and coaching student life staff and student leaders

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and related experience
  • Minimum four (4) years of related working experience in student services, working with student organizations, and student and program coordination, preferably within a post-secondary institution
  • Demonstrated experience developing, coordinating and evaluating programming and activities for post-secondary students
  • Experience in student life organization event risk assessment, constitutions, and conflict resolution
  • Strong experiential background working with diverse student communities and a commitment to improving and enhancing the student experience
  • Experience supervising and training casual staff and students
  • Must possess the ability to relate to students in a manner which builds trust and confidence, understand student issues and institutional policies, and be able to demonstrate the ability to implement programs
  • Must have excellent organizational, written and oral communication and presentation skills
  • Must be comfortable working independently and in a team environment, as well as the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel and PowerPoint), MS Teams, and Zoom
  • Must be available to work some evenings and weekends
  • Must show evidence of a commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and the promotion of a respectful and collegial learning and working environment
