Job description
Sunrise Farms is a group of companies with primary focus in the poultry industry.From our hatcheries to our “ready to eat” state of the art cooking facilities we service customers in the retail, food service and industrial sectors. Our test kitchens have the most current cooking equipment replicating that used in commercial establishments, to facilitate precision testing. We are proud of our long-standing partnerships with family-owned Canadian chicken farmers to produce high quality products.Purpose Reporting directly to the Shipping Manager & indirectly to the Plant Manager, the Shipping Supervisor is responsible for properly shipping and receiving product to and from our customers. The Shipping Supervisor will be responsible for following established food safety and quality procedures. Provisions will be made to cover the absence of the employee in this position.

Job Functions /Responsibilities:

  • Direct and control shipping and receiving activities (including raw materials, customer orders, all pallet usage, and product returns) to ensure the most accurate, timely, efficient, and economical utilization of storage facilities. Ensure all paperwork is entered into the computer system.
  • Direct andmaintain first in, first out rotation of product in storage and ensure the freezer and storage areas meet company housekeeping standards.
  • Reconcile, supervise, and participate in periodic inventory counts of the cooler and freezer. Supervise Shipping, Warehousing and Order Picking Staff (including monitor employee time sheets and authorize overtime and other requests). Provide leadership, communication, and motivation for staff.
  • Assist with Monitoring and Supervision of afternoon packaging crew.
  • Administer company policies on discipline and address complaints in a timely and respectful manner.
  • Liaise with Plant Manager, Production Managers, and Dispatch Manager, and maintain effective relationships with other department, providing input on matters related to shipping, receiving, inventory accuracy and controland storage.
  • Able and willing to occasionally adjust shift to provide supervision on dayshift and nightshift when needed.
  • Participate in the creation and maintenance of records for tracking warehousing and shipping activities for analysis and improvement.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualification:

  • Minimum 2-3 years experience in Shipping and Receiving required.
  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • Strong emphasis on computer literacy, proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, Excel).
  • Strong mathematical and organization skills.
  • Ability to use and learn Warehouse Management System.
  • Must be dependable and hold an above average attendance record.
  • Possess strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective Communication Skills to lead, motivate, coach, mentor and resolve employee conflict.
  • Excellent listening skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • High level of integrity and work ethic.
  • Previous experience working in a unionized environment is an asset.
  • Continuous learner and willingness to embrace change.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and under pressure.
