About the position: Medical Transportation Clerks provide general office functions such as taking incoming calls, typing, maintaining filing system, coordinating appointments for clients & distributing incoming mail or supplies. They also prepare forms such as certificates, medical attendance and transportation warrants. This position will be required to cover any leaves of permanent staff at any time. As this employment is on a casual-basis, there are no guaranteed shift hours.
Duties:
• Provide general office functions: incoming calls, typing, maintain filing system, operating office equipment, coordinate & distribute mail & supplies, appointment bookings;
• Participate in scheduled staff meetings, record, type and distribute minutes;
• Maintain adequate general office supply inventory for the Medical Transportation Call Centre;
• Preparing necessary forms, certificates and medical attendance, transportation warrants and distributes copies as necessary;
• Coordinating the medical transportation to ensure maximum economy and efficiency;
• Informing and education the Band Membership of the First Nations and Inuit Health (FNIH) role and responsibilities of patient transportation assistance and client responsibilities when medical travel assistance is required;
• Coordinating appointments with attending Physician’s clinics;
• Assist clients with making appointments as necessary;
• Prepare month-end reports and monthly inventory reports;
Qualifications:
• Minimum Certificate in Administration; Combination of education and relevant experience may be considered;
• Proficiency in MS office applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint are essential;
• Able to work within multidisciplinary team;
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
• Experience working within a First Nations Organization and/or working with First Nations is an asset;
• Ability to speak/understand Cree is a definite asset;
MUST POSSESS a Valid Class 5 driver’s license;
