Description

We are currently seeking a Woodland Operations Supervisor to join our team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily woodland operations. Reporting to Woodlands Superintendent.
  • Provide onboarding and orientation, coaching, and leadership for new and existing employees.
  • Promote and maintain a safe work environment across all work sites.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable forestry and environmental requirements.
  • Scale/measure logs and assess wood quality.
  • Track and prepare reports on productivity, health and safety, and compliance.
  • Work efficiently with a team, share information, communicate efficiently, and provide support as needed.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Experience with harvesting and wood hauling operations.
  • Strong health and safety focus, with a good understanding of applicable forestry and OHS requirements.
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Comfortable using GPS, tablets, and computers for field data collection and mapping.
  • Excellent communication skills: bilingualism (English and French) is an asset.
  • Ability to work independently with a flexible schedule.
  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
  • Ability to drive in a variety of conditions on forest roads and highways.
  • Ontario Scaler license is an asset.
  • Forestry technician diploma (or equivalent training) is an asset.

Principales responsabilités

  • Superviser les opérations forestières quotidiennes et se rapporter au surintendant des opérations.
  • Assurer l’accueil et l’intégration, l’encadrement, le coaching et le leadership des nouveaux employés et des employés en poste.
  • Promouvoir et assurer un environnement de travail sécuritaire sur tous les chantiers.
  • Assurer la conformité à l’ensemble des exigences forestières et environnementales applicables.
  • Effectuer le mesurage (cubage) des billes et évaluer la qualité du bois.
  • Assurer le suivi et préparer des rapports sur la productivité, la SST et la conformité.
  • Travailler en équipe, partager l’information, assurer une communication efficace et offrir du soutien au besoin.

Qualifications et exigences

  • Expérience en récolte et en transport du bois.
  • Solide orientation en santé et sécurité au travail (SST), avec une bonne connaissance des exigences applicables en foresterie et en SST.
  • Solides aptitudes en résolution de problèmes, prise de décision et analyse.
  • Capacité à s’épanouir dans un environnement dynamique et au rythme soutenu.
  • Aisance avec le GPS, les tablettes et les ordinateurs pour la collecte de données terrain et la cartographie.
  • Excellentes aptitudes de communication; le bilinguisme (anglais et français) est un atout.
  • Capacité de travailler de façon autonome, avec un horaire flexible.
  • Permis de conduire de l'Ontario valide et bon dossier de conduite.
  • Capacité de conduire dans diverses conditions, sur routes et chemins forestiers ainsi que sur l’autoroute.
  • Détenir le permis de mesureur (scaler) de l’Ontario est un atout.
  • Diplôme de technicien forestier (ou formation équivalente) est un atout.
