Job Description This Senior Analyst role reports directly to the Sr. Manager of Network Operations. The position is expected to provide senior level troubleshooting expertise including on‑call pager rotation duties, to help fix incidents and issues. The role belongs in the L2 support team which is accountable to help resolve critical/escalated network incidents.
Overall, the network operations department comprises the L1/NOC (Network Operational Centre) team that operates on a 24/7 shift‑based schedule, the L2 (Tech Response) team, the network Performance and Capacity (P&C) team, and an operational automation function as well.
The primary accountability of the L2/TR team is to keep the lights on for all critical network services on a global basis.
Desired Skill Set
Adept at analyzing network traces to identify root cause quickly.
Operations mindset to quickly identify and fix issues and then tirelessly pursue fixing the root cause with other teams as necessary so that future incidents are avoided, resulting in better customer outcomes.
Supervisory and senior consulting type skills necessary for this role to manage queues if and when needed and to direct other colleagues towards resolution.
Deep technical knowledge of platforms and how applications interact with the network.
Knowledge of new areas such as Cloud, SaaS, ACI, SD‑WAN, and more, for troubleshooting across network platforms, including wired and wireless, F5 load balancing, and Palo Alto firewalls.
Having CCIE, F5, Palo Alto, DC, and SD‑WAN qualifications will be a definite plus.
Other Key Skills
Strong leadership skills in troubleshooting complex incidents in a time‑sensitive manner and articulating technical issues concisely to senior management.
Experience using automation and advanced network‑management tooling to help resolve incidents quickly and efficiently.
Dependable, innovative, accountable, passionate, transparent, and collaborative.
Strong knowledge of networking technologies and platforms including Cloud, SD‑WAN, Wireless, Firewalls, Load Balancers, Routing and Switching, QoS, VoIP, Optical, Monitoring Tools, DHCP, DNS and CDN; new technologies such as ACI and DNAC are a plus.
Soft skills – working with people and resolving conflicts.
Experience
10+ years of solid hands‑on relevant experience on wired and wireless technologies including routing/switching, firewalls, load balancing, cloud, SD‑WAN, QoS, VoIP, optical, DHCP, DNS, monitoring tools, CDN, etc.
Expert level trace analysis skills.
Experience supporting a large and complex network environment, preferably with adequate operational hands‑on experience.
Experience exploring and implementing automation for proactive monitoring and reducing incident resolution time.
Flexible with on‑call and rotation and shift timing.
