The Opportunity Step into a senior leadership role where your expertise in project controls will help deliver some of Canada’s most complex and high‑profile rail and transit mega‑projects. As
Director Project Controls , you will play a pivotal role in shaping project delivery excellence, strengthening governance, and driving financial and operational performance across major transportation initiatives that directly contribute to Canada’s economic growth.
Your Impact
Lead and mentor a team of Project Controls professionals across scheduling, cost, estimating, reporting, risk management, and business systems.
Establish and implement project controls policies, processes, and procedures to ensure contract compliance, accurate reporting, and reliable forecasting.
Provide strategic advisory support on project controls approaches to enable successful delivery of major rail and transit projects.
Lead project set‑up activities from a project controls perspective in partnership with Project Managers, Vice Presidents, and Operations teams.
Deliver timely, consolidated reporting to senior leadership, highlighting risks, critical issues, trends, and corrective actions.
Own and maintain comprehensive project risk registers, including risk identification, analysis, mitigation, and reporting.
Optimize project performance across margin, staff utilization, DSO, and administrative cost efficiency.
Support contracting strategies, commercial negotiations, and pursuit activities with a strong focus on risk mitigation and value creation.
The Skills That Set You Apart
Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or another relevant technical discipline.
A minimum of fifteen (15) years of progressive leadership experience delivering large, complex engineering or infrastructure projects.
Proven experience representing clients at the Provincial and/or Federal level.
Demonstrated history of strong financial performance, forecasting accuracy, and commercial acumen.
Experience leading projects through challenging or turnaround situations.
A reputation for integrity, sound judgment, and informed risk‑taking.
A collaborative leadership style that empowers teams, drives accountability, and fosters high performance.
Compensation AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $177,000 – $234,400 MB & ON: $161,500 – $222,300 NB, NL, NS, PE & QC: $159,900 – $212,300
