Job descriptionThe Opportunity Campfire Circle seeks a mission‑driven relationship manager to serve as Associate Director, Philanthropy. This role focuses on donor engagement and fundraising for children with special needs and exceptionalities.
The Associate Director will build on strong major‑giving results, deepen donor relationships, secure five‑ and six‑figure gifts, and lead the Professional Advisors Committee. The role also supports planned giving, mentors the Legacy Giving Officer, and collaborates with advisors to expand the organization’s network.
Reporting to the Director, Philanthropy, this position is hybrid—working from the Toronto office 2–3 times per week, with occasional evenings and weekends. The incumbent must be a non‑smoker.
Key Responsibilities Strategy and Engagement
Develop personalized engagement strategies to inspire donor involvement.
Contribute to major‑gift forecasting and the planning, execution, and monitoring of strategic goals.
Collaborate with internal teams, volunteers, and representatives to cultivate and solicit major gifts.
Lead the professional advisors committee, manage relationships with committee members, and build relationships with a diverse network of advisors.
Fundraising and Donor Relations
Build and manage high‑value donor relationships (≥$50,000) and prioritize large gifts (≥$100,000).
Serve as the primary relationship manager for a portfolio of individual donors and family foundations.
Conduct prospect research, review, and clearance to acquire new donors.
Prepare tailored proposals, correspondence, briefing notes, and impact reports.
Collaborate with the Donor Experience team to steward donor and volunteer relationships.
Steward legacy donors and engage new and confirmed commitments.
Maintain accurate donor records in Raiser’s Edge.
Participate in stakeholder meetings, events, and public speaking.
People Leadership
Supervise, coach, and mentor the Legacy Giving Officer.
Oversee workload, priorities, and resources to achieve departmental goals.
Collaborate with Human Resources on talent lifecycle activities.
Foster a positive, inclusive, collaborative culture and champion wellness, safety, and DEI.
Qualifications and Experience
Track record in major‑gift cultivation, including five‑ and six‑figure gifts.
Interest and aptitude in planned giving with ability to integrate legacy conversations.
Strategic thinker who works independently and as part of a team.
Ability to manage a fast‑paced workload, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Strong interpersonal and networking skills with donors, volunteers, and the team.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Strong CRM skills, experience with Raiser’s Edge.
Valid G2 or G‑class driver’s license and coverage under camp’s insurance.
Post‑secondary degree or equivalent experience.
Occasional evenings and weekends required.
Non‑smoker.
Benefits This position offers a competitive annual salary range of $90,000 – $110,000. The compensation package includes $4,000 annually for mental‑health practitioners, up to $500 for wellness, an accelerated RRSP matching program up to 5 % of base salary, paid vacation and a paid winter shutdown, flexible hybrid work arrangements, ongoing professional development, and paid participation in Camp programs.
