Job description
We are at the beginning of a global energy transformation of a scale not seen in generations. A future low-cost, low-carbon electric grid, serving a world that electrifies everything, is within our reach.

The last remaining gap is breaking the link between electricity supply and demand. The lowest-cost, most sustainable sources of energy today come from intermittent renewable generation; but our homes, businesses and industries need electricity at the flick of a switch.

That gap can be closed by energy storage: Devices that store electricity when it is plentiful, then provide power back to the grid when it is needed. Solutions, including ones using lithium-ion batteries, are being deployed in massive numbers to start filling this gap. But so far, none of those solutions have proven the ability to deliver power any time, anywhere, over decades of service: The level of reliability we’ve come to expect, and that the future grid will need.

This is the biggest challenge in energy today. Invinity is at the forefront of finding a solution. And we need you to help us deliver it.

Developed, manufactured and delivered by our teams in Canada and the UK, Invinity’s vanadium flow batteries (or “VFBs”) can be installed anywhere and consistently deliver electricity as needed over a service life exceeding 30 years. Moreover, Invinity’s VFBs are highly recyclable, don’t rely on rare or conflict minerals, and won’t catch fire.

Invinity is a global VFB leader, with over 190 megawatt‑hours of its batteries operational or in construction for over 82 projects across 15 countries — more than any other emerging energy storage provider. We’ve deployed the largest flow battery systems in the U.S., Canada, Australia, and the UK. Along the way we’ve earned financial support from the UK Infrastructure Bank, the U.S. Department of Energy, and some of the world’s leading institutional investors.

Invinity is now looking to expand its product development capabilities, as we move from developing single solutions to managing a portfolio of complementary products. Join us as we help transform renewable energy into a stable and dependable contributor to the transition to net zero.

Director of Product Development In this role, reporting to the VP Product Development, you will lead a sophisticated, experienced and rapidly growing cross‑functional team through the successful introduction of new products from concept to launch. This role is critical in ensuring that new products focus on, then deliver on, cost, quality, performance and schedule requirements aligned with market needs and strategic business goals.

Role & Responsibilities

Project Leadership: Own and drive the end‑to‑end product development process, including setting requirements and expectations, planning, execution and delivery.

Cross‑Functional Coordination: Collaborate with Technology, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Quality, and Marketing teams to ensure alignment and timely execution.

Timeline & Milestone Management: Develop and actively track detailed project plans, release schedules and risk mitigation plans to ensure on‑time delivery.

Budget & Resource Management: Monitor project budgets, resource allocation, and upscale issues as needed; efficiently allocate tasks across internal, external and AI‑enabled resources.

Process Improvement: Identify and implement organizational and process enhancements to improve execution efficiency and effectiveness.

Stakeholder Communication: Provide regular updates to leadership and stakeholders, including status reports, risk assessment, and mitigation plans.

Documentation & Compliance: Ensure all product definition, manufacturing and quality documentation, regulatory requirements, and relevant standards are met.

Qualifications and Skills

10+ years of experience in managing complex, multi‑stakeholder product development programs in an industry with rapidly‑evolving markets and a high degree of technological innovation.

Strong understanding of configuration management, product lifecycle management (PLM), distributed supply chains, design for manufacturing (DFM) processes, and supply chain operations.

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or a related field.

Exceptional communication, leadership, and problem‑solving skills.

PMP or equivalent certification, or an advanced degree, is a plus.

Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheet, Jira, Confluence).

Invinity Energy Systems is small enough that every team member plays a critical role in our daily business, but large enough to participate in landmark clean energy projects around the world. With its exposure to our most impactful emerging products, this role will be critical in us delivering on those opportunities. If you are great at what you do, willing to engage with our dedicated, collaborative culture, and motivated by taking on and delivering against some of the biggest opportunities in energy today, we’d love to hear from you.

At Invinity Energy Systems, we are dedicated to providing equal employment opportunities to all individuals and practicing wage transparency to ensure fairness and equity. The salary for this position ranges from $180,000 to $220,000 per year and will be determined by a combination of the interview process, prior work experience, and educational background.
