Job descriptionAbout this opportunity We are looking for a Staff Production Engineer at our St. John’s, NL office. This role will provide production engineering expertise to the Subsurface Engineering team, managing subsea wells and advancing the West White Rose field development.
What you’ll do
Optimize production, injection (water/gas), and artificial lift performance through integrated field planning and production modelling.
Identify and execute production improvement opportunities, including well interventions, workovers, and operational strategies.
Evaluate and implement production optimisation opportunities within the Integrated Production Model, including nodal analysis for current and future wells.
Support well testing, measurement, allocation, and production data analysis for reporting and performance tracking; lead production studies.
Conduct well design and support its execution, including sandface completions design, barrier design, equipment sizing, and artificial lift selection (gas lift, ESP).
Support well construction, start‑up, and operations by identifying risks, developing mitigation strategies, and incorporating learnings into future well plans.
Maintain and execute well integrity and flow assurance programmes, including barrier management, anomaly assessment, and intervention planning.
Interface with subsurface, DCI and facilities teams to support risk reviews, brownfield upgrades, and ongoing production engineering needs, while contributing to future development and continuous improvement initiatives.
Who you are
Legally authorised to work in Canada.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required; Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility with PEG‑NL is required.
Minimum 12 years of relevant industry experience, including at least 10 years in offshore production engineering.
Significant experience in offshore subsea and platform developments within well design and execution, interventions/workovers and life‑cycle management.
Significant experience with subsea developments and FPSO operations within production allocation, optimisation and well‑integrity management.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable recommendations.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and build effective relationships across teams.
Adaptable and able to perform in a dynamic, changing environment.
