What can you expect from this position? Reporting to the Director, Corporate Risk and Insurance Services, the Associate Director, Corporate and Capital Insurance Services will be accountable for the strategic design, execution, and governance of GTAA’s corporate and capital insurance programs. You will provide leadership and expertise across insurance strategy, renewals, claims management, and stakeholder advisory, ensuring coverage aligns with enterprise risk appetite, regulatory requirements, and major capital delivery objectives. Leading a specialized team and partnering closely with Finance, Legal, Project Delivery, and external providers, you will safeguard organizational assets, optimize total cost of risk, and support safe, resilient operations across one of Canada’s most complex infrastructure environments.
This is the role for you, if you have:
7+ years of progressive experience in corporate insurance, risk management, or claims management, ideally within complex, regulated, or capital‑intensive environments.
Demonstrated experience managing large, multi‑line insurance portfolios, including construction or capital project exposures (e.g., OCIP or similar programs).
Strong knowledge of property, casualty, liability, and project‑specific insurance products, claims processes, and risk transfer mechanisms.
Proven ability to provide strategic, practical advice to senior leaders and cross‑functional stakeholders on insurance and risk matters.
Experience leading people, programs, or vendor relationships, with a collaborative and outcomes‑focused leadership style.
Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills, with the ability to distill complexity into clear, executive‑level insights.
A university degree in Business, Risk Management, Finance, or a related field, supported by a professional designation such as CIP, FCIP, CRM, or ARM (or equivalent).
Ability to obtain and retain Transportation Security Clearance at the designated level for the position.
