Job descriptionJob Description Reporting to the Operations Manager of Industrial Security Limited (ISL), the Security Site Manager will lead and oversee 24/7 security operations at the Irving Shipyard Inc (ISI) in Halifax and Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. This critical role involves managing a dynamic team of Security Officers stationed in various locations in Halifax and Dartmouth, ensuring the safety and security of our facilities, employees and assets.
Responsibilities
Providing day-to‑day oversight of the 24/7 security operations across multiple locations and facilities, ensuring the safety and security of our facilities, employees and assets
Providing leadership, direction, mentoring, and training to Shift Supervisors and Security Officers through effective resource allocation, performance management and consistent communication
Implementing and supporting ongoing recruitment initiatives and onboarding process for new team members in collaboration with ISL Operations Managers and HR
Managing the overall security infrastructure, including security cameras, test and respond to alarms at various sites, and oversee emergency response coordination
Continuously assessing security systems in collaboration with Corporate Security Unit and recommending upgrades or improvements as necessary
Conducting regular site visits to assess security needs and ensure compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements
Managing, reviewing and updating all security policies and procedures (Standard Operating Procedures – SOPs) regularly to identify areas of improvement and implement corrective actions as needed
Developing and maintaining a trusted collaboration with Senior Management and Corporate Security Unit, ensuring the smooth implementation of all security related investigations, programs and requirements
Acting as a senior representative between clients, vendors, contractors and the security team to facilitate effective communication, and achieve complete adherence to security procedures at protocols at all sites
Building and maintaining trusted networks and partnerships with municipal, provincial and federal agencies such as the Nova Scotia Justice Department and Public Safety to proactively reduce risk to operations and ensure compliance with regulations, inspections, and procedures
Acting as the Designated Official for ISL under the Controlled Goods Program maintaining adherence to security requirements
Managing, coordinating and ensuring complete adherence to ISL security reporting management system
Assuming overall command of ISL security operations during critical incidents or major security events ensuring a swift, coordinated and effective resolution
Qualifications
Minimum of 10 years of experience in security, emergency management, law enforcement field and the ability to support and motivate a 24/7 security operations team
Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in a supervisory/management role with a proven track record in leading, managing and mentoring large, diverse teams
Strong knowledge of security systems, risk assessment, and emergency response planning
