Qualifications and Experience
:Grade 12 GraduationPost-secondary training such as Special Education Assistant certificate or related coursesRecent experience & training supporting ABA programIndividual postings may require specialized courses or skills Proven success in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with parents, teachers and students with exceptional needs Ability to operate various types of special equipment Individual postings may require the ability to facilitate the movement and positioning of students Valid B.C. Driver's licenseFlexibility to undertake a variety of assignmentsGood organizational, interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skillsAbility and dedication in working with students with diverse physical, social and cognitive needsSome knowledge of standard office equipment including personal computers for instructional useOR an equivalent combination of training and experienceSite Specific Considerations:The successful applicants will have training and experience working with a wide variety of children with special needs including those with learning disabilities, multiple handicapping conditions, challenging behaviours and autism. Personal care may be required. May be required to support community services (eg swimming, bowling, etc). May be required to drive.
