The Principal / Lead Business Analyst – Loan Origination (Retail, SME & Corporate CLOS) will play a key role in driving the transformation of end-to-end lending operations for financial institutions. The role covers retail, SME, and corporate/commercial lending domains, with a strong focus on Loan Origination Systems (CLOS), credit lifecycle optimization, and digital lending transformation.

The ideal candidate brings deep domain expertise in lending products and processes across multiple banking segments, combined with strong business analysis and consulting capabilities, and experience in technology-enabled transformation within the Canadian banking ecosystem.

The objective is to improve operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and customer experience through modernized lending processes and platforms.

What you will be doing:

• Lead end-to-end business analysis activities for lending transformation programs across retail, SME, and corporate lending domains.
• Act as a Lead Business Analyst in client engagements, supporting CLOS transformation initiatives from discovery through to solution delivery.
• Analyze and optimize loan origination processes including onboarding, credit assessment, underwriting, approval workflows, documentation, disbursement, and post-approval monitoring.
• Define As-Is and To-Be process models and design future-state lending workflows aligned with business, risk, and regulatory requirements.
• Cover lending products such as term loans, overdrafts, lines of credit, equipment financing, consumer loans, mortgages, CASA, fixed deposits, and credit cards.
• Work closely with credit, risk, operations, product, and technology teams to deliver integrated solutions across CLOS, CRM, core banking, and document management systems.
• Facilitate requirements gathering workshops and translate business needs into clear functional specifications, user stories, and process models.
• Support solution validation, testing alignment (UAT), and implementation readiness activities.
• Prepare business cases, solution blueprints, and transformation proposals to support both delivery and pre-sales activities.
• Provide thought leadership on digital lending, automation, credit decisioning, and workflow optimization.
• Ensure alignment with Canadian regulatory frameworks including OSFI guidelines, FINTRAC/AML, Basel III, and IFRS 9.
• Mentor and guide junior/associate business analysts and contribute to internal knowledge development.
• Collaborate with global delivery teams (Canada, US, and offshore) in a hybrid delivery environment.
• Build strong stakeholder relationships with senior client representatives across credit, risk, and operations functions.

What we are looking for:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, or related field; MBA preferred.
• 12+ years of experience as a Lead Business Analyst / Principal BA in banking or financial services.
• Strong experience in retail, SME, and/or corporate lending transformation programs.
• Proven experience in Loan Origination Systems (CLOS/RLOS) or digital lending platforms.
• Experience with large-scale banking transformation or system implementation programs.
• Familiarity with Canadian banking ecosystem (banks, credit unions, fintechs) preferred.
• Experience working in cross-border/global delivery environments (Canada–US or offshore models).
• Previous experience mentoring or leading business analysis teams.
• Strong end-to-end understanding of retail, SME, and corporate lending lifecycle.
• Deep expertise in Loan Origination processes and Credit lifecycle management.
• Hands-on experience in CLOS platforms and integration with CRM, core banking, and document management systems.
• Strong business analysis skills: requirements elicitation, process mapping (BPMN), user stories, and functional documentation.
• Solid understanding of Canadian banking regulations (OSFI, FINTRAC/AML, Basel III, IFRS 9).
• Knowledge of credit scoring, underwriting, KYC, AML, and documentation workflows.
• Strong consulting mindset with excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
• Experience in digital transformation, process re-engineering, and system implementation projects.
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities with a data-driven approach.
• Experience working in Agile, Waterfall, and Hybrid delivery environments.
