Senior Civil Engineering Technologist

MatchBox Consulting Group is currently seeking a Senior Civil Engineering Technologist on behalf of our client, a well-established, employee-owned Canadian engineering firm with a strong presence across western Canada. This role can be based out of either their Langley, Burnaby, Calgary or Edmonton office and offers the opportunity to take on a technical leadership position within a collaborative, high-performing community development team.

The Senior Civil Engineering Technologist will serve as a key technical contributor on municipal and land development projects, leading Civil 3D design work, supporting project delivery from concept through construction, and mentoring the next generation of design professionals.

This is a strong fit for an experienced technologist who takes pride in design quality, enjoys working across multidisciplinary teams, and is ready to step into a leadership role on meaningful community infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Technical Delivery

• Lead Civil 3D design tasks including earthworks cut/fill analysis, site grading, corridors, pipe networks, deep utility servicing, and profile development
• Identify and resolve utility conflicts throughout the design process
• Perform hydraulic analysis and sizing of storm and sanitary sewers and watermains in accordance with applicable standards
• Prepare engineering drawings, figures, and exhibits supporting technical studies and municipal approvals
• Complete quantity take-offs and prepare schedules of quantities and construction cost estimates

Project Coordination

• Work closely with Project Managers and internal disciplines to prepare high-quality design and drawing submission packages for municipal review and approval
• Coordinate with external consultants and clients to support integrated and efficient project delivery

Mentorship & Leadership

• Guide and mentor junior designers and technologists, providing technical oversight and supporting development of strong design fundamentals

Qualifications

Education

• Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Civil Design and Drafting Technology, or a related field

Professional Registration

• Registration with ASET or equivalent provincial association; out-of-province candidates eligible to transfer will be considered

Experience

• Minimum 7 years of land and site development design experience
• Strong proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D and AutoCAD
• Demonstrated ability to mentor and guide junior technical staff

Skills

• Strong attention to detail with a high standard for drawing and design quality
• Solid understanding of municipal review and approval processes
• Natural collaborator with effective communication skills across internal and external project teams

Nice to Have

• Transferable background in municipal or transportation engineering with a land development component will be considered
