Job description

Our client is seeking an experienced Accounting & Regulatory Reporting Analyst to support finance, regulatory reporting, tax compliance, and financial statement preparation across Canadian and U.S. entities within a global financial services organization. This role offers broad exposure to IFRS, regulatory reporting, tax matters, head office reporting, and cross-border accounting operations. The ideal candidate will have strong technical accounting knowledge, excellent analytical skills, and experience operating in a fast-paced financial services environment.


Key Responsibilities:

Regulatory Reporting & Compliance:

  • Prepare and oversee monthly and quarterly financial regulatory reports submitted to Canadian regulators, including OSFI and the Bank of Canada, in accordance with IFRS.
  • Apply regulatory guidelines related to financial reporting and ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Respond to regulatory requests, inquiries, and correspondence.
  • Submit excess working capital filings and monitor capital requirements for Canadian regulated entities.
  • Support U.S. regulatory reporting, including FFIEC 002 reporting and certification related to loan accounting.


Taxation & Audit Support:

  • Prepare quarterly tax provision entries for GST, QST, compensation tax, and corporate income tax.
  • Support annual tax return preparation in partnership with external advisors.
  • Serve as a primary contact for tax authorities and coordinate responses during audits.
  • Review tax documentation and ensure timely compliance with filing obligations.


Financial Statements & Head Office Reporting:

  • Prepare annual financial statements and related disclosures for Canadian legal entities in accordance with IFRS and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate annual external audits, including planning, documentation requests, audit adjustments, and final review.
  • Ensure timely quarterly reporting to Head Office and validate accounting entries prepared by the accounting team.
  • Partner with international stakeholders to meet reporting deadlines and maintain accounting consistency.


Accounting & Financial Analysis:

  • Perform loan accounting reconciliations and accrual reviews.
  • Support watchlist and portfolio review processes, including meeting materials and balance analysis.
  • Respond to ad hoc finance and accounting requests from management.
  • Participate in oversight committee meetings and provide finance-related updates.
  • Assist with operational setup for new entities, including bank accounts, fee bookings, and service level agreements.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably within the financial services industry.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, IFRS, and financial reporting standards.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with accounting/reporting systems.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Fluency in English and French.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA or equivalent professional accounting designation.
  • Experience with regulatory reporting in Canada and/or the U.S. financial services sector.
  • Exposure to loan accounting systems such as Loan IQ or similar platforms.
