Job description

IKOS is the leading European consulting firm specializing in railway engineering.

We are committed to participating in the ecological transition and to developing the means of transportation of the future that are safe and durable.

Context:

To continue IKOS’s growth in Canada, we are seeking Safety Engineers who are keen to take part in our missions in Canada. As part of the team, you will be involved in applying railway safety regulations and processes, collaborating on the definition and release of railway systems and subsystems in compliance with RAMS processes, customer requirements, contractual documents, applicable rules and regulations, company instructions, and procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, and Safety analyses to ensure railway systems meet performance and regulatory standards.
  • Conduct a full suite of safety analyses — including HAZID, HRA, FTA, FMEA, FMECA, and FMEDA — in accordance with EN 50126 and the V-Cycle model.
  • Set up the safety assurance process and ensure it is followed throughout the project lifecycle by all those involved.
  • Define, distribute, and verify safety requirements for the product and its elements.
  • Identify and mitigate potential system safety risks, ensuring compliance with railway safety standards.
  • Set up, follow up, and document the project RAMS design and demonstration plan.
  • Support RAMS testing, verification, and validation activities to ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Prepare documentation for the safety demonstration process, such as system safety plans, hazard logs, safety assessment reports, V&V reports, etc.
  • Contribute to risk assessments, accident investigations, and continuous improvement of RAMS methodologies, processes, and industry best practices.
  • Support risk management activities in accordance with CENELEC standards.

We'd love you to apply if:

  • You hold a Bachelor's and/or master’s degree in science or any technical engineering field.
  • Experience in system safety, RAMS engineering, risk assessment, and safety analysis in the railway industry.
  • You know about Safety Critical and Safety Related activities in the Rail Transit System environment.
  • Strong understanding of CENELEC safety standards (EN 50126, EN 50128, EN 50129).
  • Proficiency in RAMS tools and methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on precision and safety.
  • You hold good technical writing and communication skills.
  • You have strong planning and organizational skills.
  • You are a team player and ready to learn.
  • Bilingual (English & French) proficiency will be an asset.

✅ Why Join Us?

  • Career Growth & Development: We offer tailored career plans, ongoing professional development, and clear progression pathways thanks to our IKOS Academy.
