The Opportunity
This is a hands-on electronics design role for someone who enjoys the full product development cycle: concept, circuit design, PCB layout, prototyping, testing, debugging, compliance, manufacturability, and production support.
The right person will be involved in digital circuit design, medical device accessories, firmware troubleshooting, automated test jig development, and collaboration with mechanical design engineering. It is a role with real technical breadth. You will not be isolated in one narrow corner of the design process. You will contribute to products from early design through production readiness, while helping ensure they meet performance, safety, quality, and compliance expectations.
For someone with strong board-level design experience, firmware knowledge, and comfort working in a regulated product environment, this offers a meaningful chance to apply both engineering discipline and practical problem-solving.
Position Description
The Electronics Designer will design and develop digital circuits used in mobile medical workstations and related medical device accessories. This includes schematic creation, PCB design, component selection, circuit simulation, firmware coding and debugging, design testing, and troubleshooting.
You will also work closely with PCB manufacturers during prototyping and production, helping move designs from concept to manufacturable product. As needed, you will design and build automated test jigs to support production testing and efficiency.
A key part of the role involves testing designs for safety, performance, and compliance. You will work within the organization’s Quality Management System and follow applicable design and development procedures, standards, and certification requirements. This may include working with industry standards and certification bodies such as UL, IEC, and other relevant compliance frameworks.
You will collaborate with mechanical design engineering to support complete product development, provide technical assistance to Production when manufacturability issues arise, and report on project progress while helping maintain timelines.
The position is full-time and permanent, with a hybrid work-from-home option. Some global travel may be required, estimated at approximately 10% to 20%.
Experience
The ideal candidate will bring progressive experience in electronic design, board-level design, and firmware or software development. Experience in consumer product design, medical product design, or another regulated product environment would be valuable.
Strong candidates will likely have experience with designing digital circuits and electronic boards, creating schematics and PCB layouts, working with PCB manufacturers through prototype and production stages, coding or debugging firmware, testing and validating electronic designs, designing automated test jigs, supporting compliance-related testing, and helping resolve manufacturability issues in production.
