Job Summary
Continuing Education instructors are experienced, practicing professionals in their subject areas. They teach previously developed and/or assist in the development of course materials to meet learning outcomes, and they incorporate their expertise, real-life examples, and effective teaching strategies into the course and materials. CE instructors document their students’ attendance, participation, and progress; grade assignments and assessments; and create a student-centred learning environment that encourages student involvement and participation. They are experienced with supporting computer-based, synchronous and asynchronous courses, using various technologies and learning management systems.
The Continuing Education department invites applicants to apply to join a pool of instructors qualified to teach in the following programs:
Dental Office Receptionist Certificate Program
(Applicant must be available and willing to teach through Fall 2026-2027, as of September 1st, 2026.)
The program is comprised of the courses below:
• DOR 01-Introduction to Administrative Dentistry
• DOR 02-Office Communications
• DOR 03- Introduction to Clinical Dentistry
• DOR 04- Dental Treatment Coordination
• DOR 05- Dental Office Accounting
• DOR 06- Career Planning
• DOR 07- Dental Office Receptionist Practicum

Qualifications
Required qualifications
- Recognized Dental Office Receptionist certificate or a related field, from a recognized post secondary institution.
- Minimum 3–5 years of recent experience working in a dental office, preferably in a receptionist or administrative role.
- Demonstrated proficiency with dental practice management software (e.g., scheduling, billing, and patient records systems) PowerPractice preferred.
- Experience working in a service role that includes communicating and cooperating with diverse populations.
- Experience with insurance billing, patient communication, and front-desk operations
- Advanced digital technology skills.
- Proficient in using Microsoft 365, Teams, Outlook and Teams.
Preferred qualifications
- Instructor training and certification (e.g., Provincial Instructor Diploma, Train the Trainer certification, recognized teaching credential, or other educational programs for teaching adults).
- Experience teaching or mentoring adult learners in a clinical setting preferred.
- Advanced digital technology skills; experience with online instruction using Learning Management System (LMS) platforms such as Moodle or Brightspace.
- Commitment to supporting Indigenization and decolonization in post-secondary education, with a willingness to reflect these values in teaching practice.
