Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools invites applications for a full time continuing teaching assignment to support the Emmaus Program, based out of E.D. Feehan High School, commencing the beginning of the 2026�2027 school year.
The Emmaus Program is a specialized, division-based initiative designed to support students (ages 12+) who are not currently able to attend school safely due to significant behavioural, safety, or legal concerns. This work focuses on re-engagement, relationship-building, and gradual reintegration into school.
Rooted in Gospel virtues, this work is grounded in dignity, compassion, and the belief that each student is created in the image of God. The Emmaus Program reflects our commitment to walking alongside students who may feel disconnected, helping them move toward hope, accountability, and belonging.
The Emmaus teacher works collaboratively with a social worker and division team to provide individualized relationship-based programming through a structured, phased approach. Note: teacher and social worker work together with one student at a time- often for short periods in a community setting.
Programming Focus
- Relationship-based re-engagement with students disconnected from school
- Academic programming aligned to individual readiness and capacity
- Development of self-regulation, decision-making, and accountability
- Gradual reintegration into school through a phased model
- Collaboration with families, schools, and community agencies
Primary Responsibilities
- Design and deliver individualized academic programming responsive to student readiness
- Support student engagement through flexible, relationship-based approaches
- Monitor and document student progress, engagement, and phase movement
- Collaborate closely with the Emmaus social worker in all aspects of planning and delivery
- Participate in regular consultation with school administrators, division staff, and external partners
- Maintain consistent communication with families to support student progress
- Support safe, structured transitions toward school re-entry
- Uphold all safety protocols and professional boundaries within the program
The Successful Candidate Will Possess
- Saskatchewan Professional A Teaching Certificate
- Commitment to the ideals and principles of Catholic education
- Minimum three to five years of successful teaching experience
- Strong understanding of trauma-informed practice and its impact on learning and behaviour
- Experience supporting students with complex behavioural and/or mental health needs
- Strong understanding of differentiation and responsive instruction
- Ability to build trusting relationships while maintaining clear boundaries and expectations
- Strong communication, collaboration, and documentation skills
- Demonstrated commitment to inclusion, reconciliation, and culturally responsive practice
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in alternative or re-engagement programming
- Experience working with multidisciplinary teams
- Training in VTRA, trauma-informed practice, or restorative approaches
- LAT background
