Site Description:

Scarborough Health Network (SHN) is shaping the future of care, designing a more integrated healthcare system for one of Canada's most diverse communities. We operate three full-service hospitals and several community-based locations, with essential services including emergency, diagnostic imaging, surgery, and rehabilitation care.

Position: Full Time Patrol Guard

Site: Scarborough Birchmount Hospital | 3030 Birchmount Rd, Scarborough, ON M1W 3W3

Overtime Method : Overtime is Averaging Agreement (AA) after 88 hours

Hours: Continental Nights 1900-0700

Payrate: $18.73/hour

Posting Date: May 5, 2026

Internal Closing Date : May 11, 2026

Key responsibilities:

• Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits, to ensure the safety and security of the site.

• Operate security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring any suspicious activity is reported immediately to the appropriate authorities

• Monitor and control entry points to the hospital, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed access to restricted areas.

• Act quickly in emergency situations, such as medical emergencies, fire alarms, or security threats. Assist hospital staff as needed during crises

• Greeting and assisting visitors, patients, and hospital staff

• De-escalate tense situations, resolve conflicts, and ensure that all interactions are handled calmly and professionally

• Document daily activities, incidents, or accidents accurately

• Work closely with hospital staff and local law enforcement to provide a coordinated security effort and ensure the safety of all parties involved

• Ensure that hospital policies, including visitor and patient protocols, are followed

Prerequisites:

• Valid Security License for the province of Ontario

• Valid First Aid & CPR Level C from a WSIB approved provider

• Covid Vaccine two doses

• Must be willing to complete N95 Mask fit testing during the training

• English (oral and written) fluency is a must

• Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred

• Legally authorized to work in Canada
