Purpose:
Under the direction of the Director, Budgets and Planning, the Senior Financial Analyst role plays a key role in improving financial decision-making within the University by providing insightful analysis and recommendations based on accurate and timely data. By enhancing processes, systems, and policies, related to budgeting and planning, the role helps to ensure that resources are allocated efficiently and effectively to support the University's strategic goals and objectives.
Additionally, the role collaborates with various clients to gather input, facilitate discussions, and drive consensus on financial matters, ultimately contributing to the overall success and sustainability of the institution.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline, such as Business Administration or Accounting.
CA, CGA, CMA in good standing.
Experience:
Experience working in a complex and large organization in a similar role.
Experience with complex data management, maintaining, analyzing, and monitoring complex financial records.
Experience assessing materiality levels and exercising sound professional judgement.
Knowledge:
Knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
Knowledge of relevant legislation.
Knowledge of PeopleSoft or other Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Systems.
Knowledge of PeopleSoft Financials, database query languages, and reporting tools.
Skills:
Effective level of accuracy and ability to work with productivity software including spreadsheets.
Ability to set priorities and manage time effectively to complete a high volume of work and juggle competing demands for time.
Able to work independently.
Able to effectively work with numbers, data, and formulas. Effective ability to attend to details while understanding the big picture.
