Job Description

As a Production Worker, you support machine operators by feeding rebar into bending and shearing machines, performing physically demanding tasks, and helping maintain a clean and safe work area. You work with steel products used by local construction companies for industrial and commercial buildings in the region, contributing directly to the production of critical construction materials.

Responsibilities

• Assist machine operators by feeding rebar into bending and shearing machines in a safe and efficient manner.
• Handle rebar weighing approximately 10 lbs per piece, often lifting multiple pieces and comfortably lifting up to 50 lbs throughout the day.
• Perform frequent physical tasks, including lifting, pulling, pushing, bending, and twisting as part of daily operations.
• Use an overhead crane for the heaviest parts once trained and authorized, following all safety procedures.
• Carry out general site cleanup, including sweeping floors and removing debris to maintain a tidy work area.
• Clean and wipe down machinery regularly to support safe and efficient operation.
• Work collaboratively with one or two team members, communicating clearly to coordinate tasks and maintain workflow.
• Follow all safety guidelines and use required personal protective equipment at all times.
• Support production targets by working efficiently in a loud, fast-paced, and physically demanding environment.
• Handle steel materials carefully to prevent damage to products and equipment.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 6+ months of experience in a labor-intensive role such as construction, manufacturing, warehousing, or similar environment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs independently on a regular basis.
• Comfort with frequent lifting of approximately 20 lbs and performing pulling, pushing, bending, and twisting motions throughout the shift.
• Experience working as a machine operator or in a machine-assisted production environment.
• Ability to work safely around heavy equipment and moving machinery.
• Strong attention to safety procedures and proper use of personal protective equipment.
• Reliability and consistency in attendance and performance in a physically demanding role.
• Willingness to work in a loud, dirty, and non-climate-controlled environment.

Work Environment

You work inside a large hanger that is not climate controlled, so temperatures vary with the seasons. The environment is loud, highly physical, and can be dirty due to working with steel and heavy machinery. You typically work closely with one or two team members, fostering a small, collaborative crew dynamic. The culture emphasizes working hard during production periods and relaxing during breaks. The dress code includes jeans or work pants or coveralls and long sleeve shirts. A hard hat, safety glasses, and gloves are provided to support safe work practices.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of KITCHENER, ON.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.34 - $22.34/hr.
