Position Summary The Engineering Manager is accountable for the end-to-end operational and professional execution of the engineering function for the group including Promac Sawmill and Promac Equipment. This role serves as the Responsible Registrant and Engineer of Record under the company’s Permit to Practice, with accountability for engineering integrity, technical correctness, and compliance with professional standards.
The Engineering Manager ensures engineering work is properly scoped, prioritized, executed, reviewed, and released to manufacturing with discipline and consistency. This role owns Design for Manufacturing (DFM) authority, engineering standards, intake control, project management, standard and custom cost estimation, and professional practice within engineering.
Accountabilities Engineering Function Performance
Own delivery, quality, and timeliness of all engineering outputs.
Ensure engineering commitments are realistic, technically sound, and achievable.
Oversee major project manufacturing, acting as the project manager.
Own engineering‑specific ERP data standards and accuracy.
Ensure engineering records are complete, traceable, and audit‑ready.
Lead Lean Manufacturing initiatives to reduce costs of goods sold.
Responsible Registrant & Engineer of Record
Act as the Responsible Registrant under the EGBC Permit to Practice.
Serve as Engineer of Record for applicable engineering designs, analyses, and releases.
Ensure engineering work meets EGBC requirements, codes, and applicable standards.
Provide professional sign‑off and technical accountability where required.
DFM Authority & Engineering Standards
Act as the final authority for DFM decisions within approved Form, Fit, and Function (FFF).
Define, maintain, and enforce engineering standards, design practices, and documentation requirements.
Own and govern standard cost sheets and the custom manufacturing estimation process, ensuring estimates are technically sound, DFM compliant, and consistent with approved designs and manufacturing capability.
Prevent downstream manufacturing, quality, and safety issues through disciplined front‑end engineering.
Engineering Intake & Handoff Discipline
Define and enforce “Ready for Engineering” and “Ready for Manufacturing” criteria.
Control engineering start and release points to prevent churn, rework, and scope creep.
Withhold engineering release or sign‑off authority when designs or documentation are incomplete or non‑compliant.
People Leadership & Professional Practice
Build and maintain Engineering Technologist capability and role clarity.
Ensure increasing autonomy through training, mentoring, and standardized work.
Ensure engineering supervision, review, and sign‑off align with Permit to Practice requirements.

Estimate accuracy vs. actual cost
Manufacturing issues traced to engineering output
Engineering capacity utilization vs. demand
EGBC and ERP compliance
Compensation The range offered for this position is: $130,000 – $150,000 annually.
Compensation offered within this range is based on factors unique to each candidate, including skills, qualifications, experience and credentials.
