2026/2027, Fall & Winter Terms, Course-Based Opportunities, IWGI Department of Visual Arts – Faculty of Arts
The Faculty of Arts is seeking qualified Contract Academic Staff (CAS) to teach the following courses taught in IWGI Department of Visual Art at the Brandon University Campus for the Fall Session in Term 1 and the Winter Session in Term 2. The courses may be delivered in an online synchronous format but preference will be given to qualified candidates who will teach in-person.
Qualifications: Applicants must have successful teaching experience and relevant expertise in the specified area. They will hold a Master’s Degree in a related field, and those holding a Ph.D. or who are at the ABD stage may be preferred. Applicants may seek to establish an experiential/traditional equivalency to the Master’s degree and are invited to contact the Chair of the Selection Committee on how to establish equivalent academic or professional credentials.
Salary: $8,132 per 3 credit hour course.

Fall Term: Classes run from September 9 to December 11, 2026, with an exam period following.
Winter Term: Classes run from January 5 to April 9, 2027, with an exam period following.
32:183 DRAWING I – Thurs. 1:40-4:30pm – Fall 2026
This studio course offers a variety of approaches towards drawing as a primary art form including the formal study of elements such as line, tone, texture, composition and perspective. Working in basic drawing media, this course takes on both representational and non-representational approaches.
32:150 WRITING FOR FINE ARTS – Mond. – 6-9pm – Fall 2026
Students will become familiar with the different types of writing that support the fine arts discipline including artistic statement, critical writing, curatorial writing, grant application, project proposal, biography, newspaper and scholarly review, art historical research and writing.
32:184 DRAWING II – Tues. 1:40-4:30pm – Winter 2027
This studio course is a continuation of 32:183, where technical knowledge of drawing media is now applied to historical formats including still life, landscape, figure drawing and the portrait. Illustration and expressionistic drawing will also be explored.
32:375 MIXED MEDIA – Mond. – 6-9pm – Winter 2027
This studio course explores the use of unconventional media in artmaking. It takes an interdisciplinary approach that explores the myriad of possible mixes in terms of materials as well as ideas and currents in contemporary art. Projects will be media focused and will include installation and collage.
